Alain quickly shoveled the food into his mouth. It was nowhere near as grand as the breakfasts served to him by royal chefs, but it was still good. And it was prepared by Eliza, which made it taste all the better.

Shouldering the cloak on his shoulders, Alain walked out, blinking in the bright sunlight. The night before, he hadn't gotten a good look at the land around Eliza's home. But now he could see how beautiful it was.

"It's a little ways to the town, so we might as well enjoy the walk, eh? Surrounding them were lush green fields, dotted with wildflowers. The castle loomed in the distance and the houses, only tiny dots, lie even farther in the valley below.
