Russell didn't answer, only rocked back and forth slightly. Eventually, his sobs quieted and his breathing calmed. "I really am weak..." he murmured shakily, not daring to take his hands away from his face. "I'm sorry Miss Corinne. I'm so sorry you had to see this. William's right. I'm just a pathetic mess. You can leave if you want to. I wouldn't blame you."

These...these things...they've been happening ever since my mother died and they got worse when my father did too. Mrs. Smith sent me to so many physicians I lost count. They did tests on me. "Nothing's wrong with you, I promise." She vaguely recalled a knight having a similar attack of anxiety and panic after a battle, but couldn't remember how to help.

"And how do you know? You're not a physician!" Russell wiped his tears with the back of his hand. How pitiful he must've looked, with his eyes red from crying and the honey still in his hair, making it stick up stiffly. He almost laughed at the thought.

Russell shrugged, falling silent for a minute, looking down at his shoes. "I don't know what came over me..." he said eventually. "When I punched him. I had never thought about doing something like that before. I honestly didn't think I could. But...he spat at you..." He trailed off, shrugging again.

"Thank you Corinne, but the truth is that I was scared out of my mind," he laughed shakily. "I guess I haven't ever really had anyone to stand up for," he added thoughtfully. "It's weird... In my head I knew you had it under control. I knew you could've seriously hurt him if you wanted, but...I reacted anyway."
