"Oh! Um..." Ricardo stared at his feet. All of the nerve he had gathered was gone. If he tried to confess to Vincent, it would probably come out badly. "I've j-just been wanting to dye my hair some bright color, and I was wondering what you thought," he lied quickly. Oh my god, I suck at this.

Vincent stared at him for a moment, confused. "Oh... Well, uh... You'd have to bleach it first... I like your hair the way it is, anyway," he told Ricardo, reaching over to fiddle with a few locks of it.

Before he could actually process what his mouth was doing, Ricardo heard himself speak. "Actually... The hair thing was true, but it wasn't what I was trying to say before."
"For a Gryffindor, he's such a coward," Bianca sighed, handing Jane the long cord of an Extendable Ear. "Want to listen in with me?"

Ricardo's mouth went dry as he desperately searched his mind for the words he had practiced over and over. They were gone. "I... Wanted to say," he muttered slowly, heart pounding in his chest, "That... I've h-had feelings for you for a-- a while. The romantic kind, I mean. And, uh... I really hope this doesn't mess up our friendship. Oh, God, I just made it awkward, didn't I? I shouldn't have said anything, just forget what I said, forget all of it--"
Bianca's mouth dropped open to form a neat 'o.' "He actually did it! I can't believe he actually did it!"

Jane laughed in disbelief. "Wow... I would've lost my bet."
Vincent stared at Ricardo for a moment, heart beating fast. "Oh my god. I just... Oh my god... Ricardo, I can't just...forget everything you just said!" he said, feeling sick and giddy all at the same time. He wasn't even sure how it happened, but the next thing he knew, his arms were wrapped around the Gryffindor, hugging him tightly.

Ricardo blinked in surprise, before hesitantly hugging Vincent back. "So... Does this mean you feel the same way about me?"

"Oh, I know! This is amazing. Hopefully no one will give them too much of a hard time," Jane said, watching the two down at the quidditch pitch. "It feels like it's been forever. I wonder what knocked some sense into Ricardo's head."
"You're such an idiot, Ricardo," Vincent mumbled, unable to stop himself from smiling. "But I guess I am too, huh?" It felt nice like this, to be here in Ricardo's arms. A sense of relief had engulfed him. He didn't have to worry anymore.

Vincent felt like his heart was going to beat out of his chest. In fact, he was scared almost to death. The good kind of scared. Without hesitation, he kissed Ricardo back, letting his lips linger.
Jane grinned. "We can't ever tell them we saw this. Ricardo would kill us."

Ricardo pulled away, wordlessly pulling Vincent into a tight hug. This went better than he could have ever even imagined. And the pressure of hiding his feelings was finally gone; it felt as if a weight has been pulled off of his shoulders.
