Ricardo blew air through his trombone nervously, staring at Vincent out of the corner of his eye. Today, he'd do it. He'd gathered up his nerve, talked himself through it. Today was the day he'd finally confess to Vincent. At least, if nothing actually got in the way of it first. He removed the cold mouthpiece from his lips, heart pumping quickly. "Hey... I actually wanted to tell you something."

He glanced somewhat guiltily from Rita to to the rest of the library. Maybe he should at least try to help her, it was the least he could do since she did help him after all. "Is Potions important for the career you want? With the two of us working on a single essay, I'm pretty sure you could scrape an A and not get roasted by the Potions Master next period." Despite not being overly confident in his skills in that particular subject, it was always worth a shot, right?

She snorted at that. "Just a bit. I want to go into Healing, so Potions is probably the most important thing for me. It doesn't matter, though. I'll come up with some bull about my owl eating the essay... or something." Her excuse definitely needed some work, she mused. Although she'd definitely heard worse before.

"I guess I just wanted to say that... For a long time, I, uh..." Ricardo paused, eyes darting to look at anything but Vincent. In the distance were two figures coming towards them-- Bianca and Jane. He could feel his heart plummet in his chest. I can't do this with them here!

Xander hummed in thought, rolling his head to the side. "Healing, huh? That's respectable. My parents used to try and push me down that route, it never worked though and they've since given up, probably 'cause my brother's been doing so well so it doesn't matter if I screw up." He pulled down a second book on Ancient Runes but refrained from opening it. "You know, you could always takes things to the extremes and slice open your bag so you can pretend it fell out."

Ricardo's face burned with shame as he realized that Vincent was right. "It's just... I can't really tell you unless we're alone," he muttered evasively as the girls approached them. "It's a pretty... Sensitive topic, I guess."

He sighed. "Fine, alright." Now he was a bit annoyed with Jane and Bianca for showing up. Hopefully they wouldn't stay for too long, even though he liked to talk with Jane sometimes, at least. "How are you two?"
