Ricardo peered at the client's back for a moment, the buzzing noise of the tattoo needle filling the air. The flower tattoo was looking good so far, and very like the lilies placed in the case nearby. Thank goodness the flower shop across the street had let him borrow a few.

Jack hesitated at the door, glancing back inside the house. His mother stared back, a reassuring smile on her face. "Don't worry, son, you'll be okay. Professor Janet gave you Mudkip, he'll protect you."
Jack glanced down at the poke ball in his hand, nodding. "I think I'll nickname him later on. Seems boring just to call him Mudkip all the time."

Victoire pedaled furiously on her bike, sailing through town square. She glanced down at the basket on the front every so often, beaming at the shiny new Pokeball. She could hardly believe it. Her very own Torchic! At long last, she was finally beginning her Pokemon journey. The wait was over!

Jack stepped outside, seeing a familiar figure whiz by on a bike. "Vic! Wait for me!" He picked up his own bike, resting against the house, and began to pedal after her.

Thea smiled. "Yeah, those monsters can be a little loud. But a group doesn't necessarily hold you down. You have someone to watch your back and talk to." Cats, as it happened, were excellent for both back-watching and talking to. "Making it this far on your own, though… that's something to be proud of." Giovanni chuckled. "Don't exactly have anyone around to really be proud of me. What about you? What's your story?" "My cat and I had been coming to the coffee shop for weeks before the monsters started appearing. It's all sort of hazy at this point, but we'd always meet up with the same person." She thought past the fluffy romance of those few weeks and carried on with the monstery exposition dump. "We were in the shop when the monsters began appearing. The two of us were able to set up camp in there, though everyone else fled. Venus has been keeping a close eye on the monsters and trying to pinpoint some weaknesses. I've been in charge of finding enough supplies to keep us going." Thea felt slightly embarrassed. She did not usually talk this much, and she certainly was not one to go vomiting out her life story this way, but she supposed that a few months with only Venus for company left her with a lot to say to the nearest non-cat willing to listen. "Do you think you'll be staying here for long?" |

"I... I think so. There's not many people in this town; low chance of any monsters showing up anytime soon. And, uh..." Giovanni turned vaguely pink under the explosion of freckles across his cheeks. "Could I, maybe... meet your cat? I don't remember much, but I do remember really liking cats."

Victoire grinned. "Oooh! That's so cute! I still have no idea what to name Torchic." She glanced over at the town's exit. There was a sign post by the door, displaying a colorful, geometric map of the region. "Where are you off to? I'm heading for Petalburg City!"

"That's a good idea," Victoire nodded, mounting her bike again. "I can't believe this is actually happening! I mean, we're finally growing up and going out into the world. Who knows what we'll have accomplished a year from now? This is so exciting!"

Philip stood in the city center, utterly confused and discombobulated by all of the hustle and bustle. The treecko on his shoulder took a step closer to Philip's head, seemingly a bit overwhelmed too. He wanted to ask for directions, but he knew that would be near-impossible given his circumstances. Instead, he tried to act as casual as possible, hoping no one would notice him. Though at the same time, Philip wished someone could see that he was utterly lost.

Thea ducked into the shop, wondering faintly if this was a dream. She was letting a real live person into her shelter to pet her cat.
Venus sat atop the table wall, looking quite aloof and graceful as cats generally do.

Ricardo finished, waving off the satisfied customer with the brand-new Lily tattoo. He glanced at the flowers, tilting his head. No one's coming for a while. I can take a second and return these to the flower shop. Judas can watch the shop for a while if I get to talking with the flower people. He glanced back at his older coworker, who was sketching away in his design notebook.

"Yeah! I've been reading up all about Pokemon team strategy and battle strategy too. If we get balanced enough teams of Pokemon, we could be unstoppable!" Jack grinned, the thought filling him with excitement. "And I bet we'll make a lot of cool friends and meet all sorts of people."

Venus maintained her air of aloofness for a few more moments, but was quickly overcome with curiosity and a desire to be petted. She jumped down and ran over to sniff Giovanni.
