Tanzanite jumped backwards, feeling a small sense of relief. She had done it; they were starting to unfuse. But she wasn't sure if it was time to relax next. They had no idea what Morganite or Carnelian would do after Sunstone was gone.

Coral took a step back, glancing at Tanzanite questioningly. Why would she decide to bring me into this? And why would Sunstone defuse because of what she said? Nothing that I said did anything to help...

The glowing shape that had once been Sunstone dissolved into a flash of light. In the spot where seconds ago there had been a towering, ominous gem, there were now two smaller gems. Morganite was curled between the house and the porch's railing with her knees pulled up to her head and her head in her knees. She squeezed her eyes shut, not saying anything but bracing herself for what was to come.

Carnelian was stock-still, dumped on the sand on all fours and staring at the ground beneath them. Their breathing was ragged.

Carnelian flinched at the sound of their words, lowering their head. Guilt coursed through every fiber of their being-- guilt at hurting Coral, guilt at having fused at all, guilt for having enjoyed it even for a second...

Morganite sighed, pressing her head back against the house, inside of which she had the overwhelming urge to hide. She pondered it- she could pull out her paints and go wild on the art wall. But no, she'd better stay here. I know exactly what I did. I screwed up and I have to answer for it.

"I'd rather have no common sense than no strength or emotional resolve to actually try and solve a problem..." The words hit Coral a second time, leaving her to sink slowly to the sand. She hated herself for being so sensitive. She knew she shouldn't really take any of it to heart, but what if Sunstone had been right? "You don't ever really change, do ya?" Coral hated every tear that burned her skin as it ran down her face. Every one stripping away a bit of what little respect the others had for her. One at a time, showing the rest how weak and pathetic she really was. She wanted to believe she was important, that she was the backbone of this team... But what if they didn't even need her? "You're just jealous that you're not part of me."

Tanzanite dug her sword into the ground, leaning on it heavily and looking down. "What... were you two... thinking," she said finally, not looking up at Carnelian or Morganite. Her voice was calm and collected, but her arms still shook slightly.

I was scared having new people and the house and of everyone was running away and I just..." She took a slow breath, staring at her feet. "I was scared, and Sunstone was so big and powerful, and I just wanted security. I let my fear take over. I know that's not an excuse but just... I'm so sorry. You don't have to forgive me."

Tanzanite looked over at Morganite, nodding. "I think, we're all at fault for different things in one way or another. And Carnelian..." She turned to face the orange gem, staring at them. "No, I don't have somewhere to go. Because I'm not running away from my problems anymore." She tried to hold her gaze, but couldn't and quickly looked down again.
