"I do hope she's safe. We could talk to them about it. Let them know they have our support. Pay them a visit, even."

"Maybe," she said, forcing the word out. She didn't particularly want to talk to them. And she definitely didn't want to see Cora, knowing that she had gone through almost the same thing as her daughter, but lived. Where's the justice in that?

"Holing ourselves up in the house won't do us any good. Maybe we could go to grief counseling, or something."

"I don't think that would help," she muttered. "Unless they've lost a child themselves. Who else could know what it feels like?"

"I don't know, people in a grief counseling session, maybe," Alfred sighed, frustration beginning to edge his words. "We're not the first people ever to lose their child, Isabella, nor are we the last. And it seems very likely that we won't be the last among our friends."

She bristled someone at his tone. "I just don't want to see anyone about it. If you want to go, fine, but I'm not going with you." She didn't see what was so hard to understand about that. Grief was a private thing, after all.

Alfred almost opened his mouth to aim a sharp retort at her, but held his tongue. The last thing they needed at the moment was an argument on top of everything else. "Fine." I'm starting to feel as if you don't even want to try to move past all this.

She retrieved a bottle of cleaning fluid from the cupboard, shutting the door with more force than was strictly necessary. I suppose this is why couples don't stay together after their child dies. The thought rose to her mind unbidden and she paused, eyes stinging. We were so happy before all of this.

Alfred stood, putting his book down on the table. "I'm going to bed," he said flatly. "Goodnight."

"Night." The word was blunt; she had nothing more to say as she returned to cleaning the windows for the third time that week.

An exhausted-looking June opened the door to her home, staggering inside to land on the couch. Her hair was frazzled, as was her uniform. Her feet ached from the past few weeks of nonstop work.

Will was on the chair opposite, and he looked a little startled as his wife entered. "What in Merlin's name is a banshee doing in my house?" he joked, leaning forwards in his seat.

June glared at him, but it was obvious that she was trying her best (and failing) to not laugh. "Oh, stop. It has been a crazy day. Couldn't even check up on the Department of Mysteries, either, because guess what? They're working with my department now!"

He grimaced. "It certainly looks like it's been a crazy day. Fancy a pizza?" He wondered privately what the department was working on, but figured that June would open up about it in her own time.

"You know me so well," she sighed, kicking off her work boots. "So anyway, get this-- apparently there's been some sort of time anomaly. Fairly recently too, just a few months back. They're trying to trace the source, but those nerds don't know anything about tracking information. That's where I come in."

"So someone's been messing around with a time turner," he mused, reaching across to the table for a delivery menu and running his gaze over it. "Have you managed to trace it yet?"

"No, which is the worst part," she sighed. "Time travel is... tricky business. Especially because now there'll be two versions of the same time turner that the person used."

"What's your plan of action then?" He passed her the menu, having made his decision. "Do the ministry not have tracking charms already on the time turners? That surely would be the best way to go about monitoring time travel."
