At first, the urge to pull away was strong, but she was reminded of the fact that Alain would probably never see her again in a week anyway. She scolded herself for being so reckless, but at that point, nothing really mattered. Eliza let herself relax, reaching a hand up and tangling her fingers in his soft hair. No wonder birds liked it so much...

Eliza shook her head. "You need to stop apologizing." She gave him a small smile. "Though...this is exactly the sort of thing I was talking about. I shouldn't have let myself get caught up in it, but I have. I knew it was a bad idea to let my emotions take control, but I let them. And so far, I don't think I have any regrets," she murmured softly, feeling her face grow warmer than it already was.

Eliza laughed. "Don't worry, if it does get caught, I'll get it out safely," she promised as the trees began to thin out. Soon, they ended completely and the forest opened up, revealing a rocky hilltop dotted here and there with buttercups.
