Jampo flew over the Earth Kingdom apprehensively. His bison Dawa grunted and he patted her head absent-mindedly. What did Master Lobsang say again? Something about retrieving someone? The air nomad fretted, looking down upon the trees. He was much older than some of the other airbending students who'd already traveled beyond the temples, but this was his first real time away from home.

By now, Dawa was growing weary. The bison let out a long groan and Jampo sighed, having no choice but to land. He spotted a small clearing that looked just large enough and steered Dawa towards it.

She halted at a loud groaning noise from nearby, and dropped easily into a bending stance, fists out in front of her. A moment later, vibrations rocked the ground beneath her feet. It felt like something big had just hit the floor nearby.

Jian ran a hand through his hair as he let out an exasperated sigh. A few days in the Earth Kingdom and he was already lost with nothing but a bag of provisions, a sketch of the man he was looking for and an outdated map. He was supposed to be searching in Ba Sing Se but he found himself in the middle of a dense forest with no true recollection on which way he had entered. Logic dictated that if he continued in one direction for long enough, he would manage to find a way out but so far, he had little luck. As a firebender, he was always taught to send up a flare into the sky if he ever required aid but also as a firebender, he had the sense not to set alight the thick canopy above him.

Jampo slid down from the saddle and threw his bison a fruit. Looking back and forth between his surroundings and his map, he realized he was completely lost.

The airbender fought to stay calm. Maybe there is a village not too far away from here that can tell me where I am... But how many villages are going to be in a forest this dense?

He scratched his head, trying to make sense of the faded lines that was supposed to be a map of the Earth Kingdom. Was that squiggly line supposed to be a river or a city border? Jian groaned, suppressing the ever growing urge to just burn the goddamn paper to cinders and find his own way out.

The earthbender frowned. Why was the forest so busy today? Usually she could find one or two lonely travellers searching for the nearby village, never a whole group of children and- her eyes widened as she caught sight of something through the trees. Was that a sky bison?

Frustrated, Jampo stood, running his fingers through his hair. As he paced back and forth, Jampo looked between the map and the forest around him. On one of his passings, he could've sworn he'd seen a human-like figure, but it disappeared a second later.

She crouched behind the tree, assessing the situation. What would an Airbender be doing in the forest of all people? Of course she was curious, just as before when she met the waterbender children.

Jampo watched the trees carefully, backing up towards Dawa just in case they'd have to take off again. The last thing he needed was to get ambushed.

She took a deep breath, shaking her head to herself. She had plenty of cover, and Airbenders were supposed to be peaceful people, so she couldn't see how she could be in danger. "Who are you," she asked, raising her voice and emerging from behind the tree.

Jian continued through the forest and tucked the map back into his pocket, almost tripping over the many roots that protruded from the earth. He cursed loudly.
