Victoire turned from where she was arranging a pile of daggers on the shelf, raising her eyebrows. "Oh, cool! That sounds fun." She grabbed her backpack, slinging it over her shoulder. "Hey, is... is Jack okay? That whole ordeal was kinda my fault."

I talked with him. I think he's better, Philip scrawled in response, tucking the notepad into his pocket and leading the way back to the living room where he hoped Jack was still waiting.

Victoire nodded, smiling a bit and crossing her fingers for the best as she followed Phil up the stairs.

Jack was already at the large computers of the control center, typing away at the raw code of the training simulations.

Philip walked over to where Jack was seated, putting a hand on his shoulder to let him know he was there. The Canadian looked up at the big monitors, watching the code on one of them being typed out by Jack. Philip saw the control center every day, but rarely so up-close. It still impressed him.

"I've adjusted some of the different simulations available in the program," Jack explained, not removing his eyes from the screen. "You'll both be starting on level one. As of now, there's only twenty different levels available, each harder than the next, but by the time you guys manage to outgrow them there'll be a second version of the program with levels twenty-one and above."

Philip nodded, making a vague noise of understanding. Pulling out his pen and paper, he wrote, So you're coding the second version now?

Jack looked over the paper before turning back to his work. "Yeah, it's in the works. But I don't want to finalize anything until this version of the training sim is fully functional. Otherwise, I'll have to tear it apart and start from scratch. What I'm doing right this second is the startup code for level one, which you two are going to do now."

(Sure! By all means. Sorry for answering so late btw)
"Okay. So you're going to want to go into the sim booths and connect the padded wires to the parts shown in the diagram. I'll check to see if you gusy put them on correctly, but I can't put them on you for obvious reasons."

Philip nodded, heading to the booths and stepping into one. He waved Victoire over and went to studying the diagram, eventually getting to work adhering the padded wires to his skin, attaching them to his arms and lifting his shirt a bit to stick them to his chest.

Victoire edged towards the booth, gazing at the diagrams over Phil's shoulder. Geez, how does he do that techy stuff? I can hardly make a gif. "This is really cool, Jack! You must have worked really hard on these. And uh... sorry about that thing in the practice room just now. That wasn't a cool thing." I think we're on a bit of a time crunch now, but after this I'll apologize for real. That kind of sucked.

"Sure. There's some extra pads around there somewhere, just put 'em on and get in the simulation room. There should be individual booths in there, just pick any one you like."

(Guys I'm reviving this. I miss these characters so much)
Philip held his arm above his face, staring at the second hand twitching, making its way slowly around the face of the watch. He lay sprawled on the couch, the drone of the television in the background, reduced to a mere hum of blurry voices and the occasional laugh track. The Canadian watched a full five minutes pass before his eyes. The amount of time was insignificant compared to the full seven hours Philip had been awake, but it felt like an eternity. The invisible audience of the sitcom erupted into laughter, doing little to break Philip from the glassy-eyed spell of boredom. 3:26 pm. The dull haze that a Sunday afternoon brought hung palpable in the air. The hands on the watch face blurred and the mute felt his eyelids droop, unable to fight it, and his arm slowly falling onto his face as he slipped into a doze.

Lauren yawned, dropping onto the arm of the couch and reaching for the remote. She tilted her head and flicked aimlessly through the channels, lingering for a few seconds on each one before settling with a sort of reluctance on the news. She couldn't help but admit grudgingly to herself that it had at least become a lot more interesting recently, especially seeing as any new story could be a potential for the team's involvement.

Philip jerked awake abruptly after a brief sensation of falling. He let out a long breath and, sitting up, rubbed the sleep away from his eyes. The presence of another person caught him off guard, but the Canadian relaxed once he realized it was only Lauren. How long had he slept for? Ten minutes? Fifteen? Either way, the cat nap left him feeling groggy and disoriented. Not very fortunate for a superhero who needed to be on constant alert. Philip took a glance at the television screen, hoping to find something of interest, but the only story being covered now was about a bakery owner and some miscellaneous charity.
