The Canadian takes a deep breath, kneeling down next to Maya's foot. Carefully, he wipes away the blood with a calloused hand after making sure no glass was still in the wounds. He presses his thumb to each of the cuts in turn, closing his eyes and concentrating for a few moments on each one. Every time Philip takes his thumb away, the cut that had been under it is no longer bleeding.

Philip shrugs his response. Maybe... he writes. I haven't tried a bullet wound. He plucks some Band-Aids from the first-aid kit and sticks them over Maya's cuts. It brings back memories of tending to his little sister every time she fell and scraped her knees. At Maya's thanks, he glances up and gives her a small smile.

Philip comes in from the kitchen to sit down next to Fernando on the couch. He wishes he could just curl up right here and go back to sleep instead of having to deal with new people, a new building, new teachers, and new funny looks when he slips up and signs a response. It looks like he's going to have to do a lot of writing in the coming months... He scrawls on his notepad lazily. A response for Fernando. Jet lag.
