Jane hung her head, falling to silence. After a minute though, she murmured,"It's just that..." She paused. "I want to still be able to read with you in the common room, and...laugh at your jokes while we're eating breakfast and choking on my tea because of it..." Jane trailed off awkwardly, glancing back up at him. "You're my best friend, Nic. And I don't–I don't want all that to go away..."
