Eduard grunted with effort as he struggled to pull himself up to a seated position. His latest surgery had been last night, and he felt like a newborn child trying to hold it's own head up. He managed to drag his laptop to sit on his lap, opening up his email.

Eduard hit the refresh button a few times. On the third click, an e-mail from the Cosmo appeared. It was Joan. His eyes stung a bit as he scrolled through the pictures. He smiled as he read the e-mail. The messaged from his friends were the only thing that really made him smile anymore. And lately, more than ever, he felt like he had almost forgotten how.
