The chicken was indeed very confused, and slightly disgruntled. Within moments she'd touched down. "Amazing. It seems these effects have worn off," she murmured. "We must begin additional testing immediately!"

Joan nodded. "Of course we'll check her vitals first. The root could've had an affect on her breathing or heartbeat. Then maybe we could do some testing on the root itself. Get its chemical makeup."

"Yeah, it's certainly good to know," Joan replied, getting excited. "Maybe we could even isolate the chemical that causes the side effects and genetically modify the plant so that it doesn't show up!" she gasped, clenching her fists eagerly.

Joan grabbed her own lab coat and goggles, pulling them on hastily as she ran down the hall. "I'll go get a sample of the root!" she called.

"I will begin preparing our little friend for examination!" she shouted back. She began taking measured breaths, a calming mechanism. It wouldn't do to be jumping up and down with joy when examining an animal. The chicken looked confused enough already without extra excitement.

Joan came back holding a petri dish with a couple slivers of the root on it. "I was thinking we could examine it under the microscope too. What're her breathing and heartbeat like? Any different than normal?"

She opened the chicken's cage. "Her heartbeat is going a little fast, but that is most likely stress. Breathing is fine, and she is definitely not lethargic," Reve added as the sable bird clucked and started to walk towards her.
