"Now we liked to use our claws when e train..." She mild devilishly and let it hang in the air for a few moment. Finally she laughed. "Kidding. I'm just gonna teach you a few beginner moves. The swipe and duck-". She quickly took a swipe at some tall grass that caused it to move back then she ducked down as the grass flung towards her. " and side swipe and rake. " she slid to the side of the grass then used her claws the slash the tips off.

Trixie's eyes widened at the thought, but she relaxed as she realized Thornheart was teasing. She watched her mentor's demonstrations carefully, though she felt a flicker of worry. Am I supposed to be able to do that? "Alright," she said.

Trixie's tail-tip flicked uncertainly. She faced the grass stalks, replaying the move in her head. She struck out, then ducked, but wasn't quite as quick about it as her mentor. The grass stalks brushed the tip of her nose as she ducked down.

Trixie sighed. This could be a long day.
She practiced for a while, trying to get a feel for the motion. After a while, she felt herself starting to get into a more comfortable rhythm. There was a certain rhythm to the move. Eventually, she felt like she was doing better. She wasn't as fast as Thornheart yet, but the movement was surer, more deliberate now, and her speed had improved.
The former kittypet looked up at her mentor. "How was that?"

"Perfect. " she nodded. "You're a quick learner which is more than I can say for most of our apprentices. " she chuckled. "Try the other attack now. " she demonstrated the move of slipping to the side then slashing out.

OOC: Just out of curiosity, how old is Thornheart? Because Trixie's not a normal apprentice age and I just sorta thought it would be funny if Trixie ended up being older than her mentor. XD Also, what does she look like?
Trixie's ears perked up immediately. "Thanks!"
She watched carefully as Thornheart demonstrated the attack. This one looked a bit harder, and would require more speed. She practiced a bit, trying to get a feel of slipping to the side as Thornheart had. This was trickier than the last move, and her whole body didn't flow to the side as Thornheart's had.

Hmm. I think she will be about a year old. So idk maybe a few moons out of training XD she's never had an actual apprentice. And I picture her as a solid dark golden brown short hair cat with forest green eyes.
Thornheart watched very intently with intense green eyes.

OOC: And Trixie's 2 1/2 years, so Trixie is older than her mentor. XD That's kinda funny. Not like Trixie's the kinda cat to bring that up, but still.
She performed the move again, then glanced at her mentor. "How was that?"

Trixie tried it a few more times, but couldn't quite get the fluidity of the motion. Her tail swept behind her awkwardly, and her hind legs didn't quite swivel as quickly as the rest of her.

Thornheart, obviously impatient, sighed "OK stop. Now I'm going to show you something you already know. " she got real low to the ground in a type of crouch. The exact same crouch as the first battle. Quietly she talked forward. Then quickly she slashed out with a paw as she leapt at a pile of tall grass. Part of the second move. Thornheart then turned around. "Try that. And if you can get it then you can hunt. " she smiled proudly

Trixie watched carefully. The crouch was familiar, and the pounce didn't look that hard. She lowered herself into the crouch, then leaped, trying to swipe at the same time, and just landing in a dusty heap. "Oof." She hurried to her paws, quickly licking her fur clean. Then she lowered herself into her crouch, and tried again. She landed, but off balance.

Trixie practiced more, but she still couldn't quite get the swipe as powerful or the landing as balanced as she'd like. She paused, hissing with frustration. "The leap's alright, but swiping and leaping and trying to land..." She glanced at her mentor with embarrassment. "Do you have any advice?"
