Scarecrow nodded gravely. "When the dog gobbled my siblings up, he ripped me up, too. I laid there...in a bloody pool...like a nice, warm bath...but then Twolegs came, and they saved me. I wanted to die there, you see, with an honorable death like my siblings," he babbled, "but no...They sealed my wounds and kept me there...you see, I'm wiser than they are...I escaped when I felt I was all prettied up!"

Scarecrow licked his bedrazzled (new word) fur. "You're very right. I'm not from around here. But I sense a blizzard. Perhaps..." He paused for a minute, considering his stance. "Would it be a noble death to die in a blizzard?" There was no sense of seriousness or consideration in his tone. His madness shone through.

Scarecrow shook his head. "I don't think so. The dogs got foaming mouth afterwards. I...I watched the dogs for months after they killed my siblings. One got bitten by a foaming-mouthed fox, and that one killed his brother, and his brother killed his mate and pups. It was really...hard to watch...Hard to convince myself that it was revenge and I caused it myself..."
