Trixie didn't know what a medicine cat was, but the word heal was enough for her. The queen's shoulders sagged in relief. "Oh, thank you!" She managed to struggle slowly and carefully to her paws. One paw was held gingerly off the ground, and she was a bit wobbly, but she was standing. "Which way are we going?"

Scarecrow looked around desperately, mumbling to himself from in his rabbit hole. He had only taken refuge in this after his den was destroyed outside the territory. "This isn't good...these ca ts here...these ca ts here don't like me. Don't. Don't like rogues and loners. Am I going to die?" His one eye twitched from under the heavy scarring. His two ripped ears flattened onto his head. "But I have to leave. But if there's someone there they'll hurt me...Then what would he have died for? What would his neck snapped for?"

Gullfrost plowed through the snow that was already thick on the ground. He was carrying a hare he'd dug out of a burrow and was on his way back to camp.

Scarecrow rushed forward. "I don't think there's anyone here, I don't think--" he stumbled through the snow, falling straight onto his scarred face. His empty eye hole was already numbing. He let out a loud whimper.

Scarecrow picked himself up. He continued to babble. "Someone is indeed here." He tumbled onto the snow again, then flinched at the sight of another cat. "No..no..you see, I can't...I shouldn't be...out in the light..." He tilted his head.

Scarecrow tilted his head so far that he fell over. "They called me insane, you see? But I'm much smarter than they are. I knew better. I knew that I was called Scarecrow by the twolegs." He let out a bark-like sound that seemed to frighten himself.

Scarecrow perked up, revealing the horrible maimed face of his. He almost did not appear like a cat. "Not long. No, no, not long. I used to live in the cave," he pointed with his mangled tail to the hills, "with my bat friends, but it got destroyed." He crouched, his one eye widening to full extent. "You're lying. There are dogs. Dogs everywhere."

Gullfrost took a couple steps towards the cat, putting all of his effort towards not looking threatening. "It's alright. It'll be alright," he meowed soothingly. "Why don't I take you back to my camp. I'll take you away from the dogs, I promise."

Scarecrow flinched slightly, then curled his tail over his own paws. "I can't go over there, you see, well, whenever I am friendly to someone, they die." His tone was frank. "Proven fact."
