Philip looked up at the sound of Lauren's voice cutting through the drone of the cafeteria crowd. He presented a weak smile, raising his hand slightly to greet both of them.

"How was your morning?" She asked him brightly, stopping the wheelchair by the table and taking a seat.

Philip shrugged, clicking his pen and flipping to a new, fresh page. Okay. I guess, he writes in response.

"That's good," she beamed. "Which lessons did you have? And what were your teachers like? Mine were lovely!"

Pre-calc, English, and History. The teachers were alright. They all asked me to introduce myself though. He habitually tapped the tip of the pen on the paper a couple times before setting it down.

"Oh. I'm sorry, that must have been really uncomfortable for you." Her face fell for a second, but the incessant smile returned again, as bright as ever. "I'm sure they didn't mean to upset you, though. And they'll get used to it in no time, don't worry."

Philip smiled at her reassuring words. Hopefully, he replied. One of them actually called on me. He chuckled breathily, but the embarrassment was still fresh in his mind. My intro was still on the board.

(I don't know how American schools work in general, but in my school we have Period 1 from 9:05-10:05, Period 2 from 10:05-11:05, Rec from 11:05-11:25, then Period 3 from 11:25-12:25, and then we have lunch. So there's three lessons and a 20 minute break before we eat.)
"Anyway," she rested her elbows on the table, leaning forwards in her seat. "There's a girl in my class with the most amazing hair. And I asked her how often she gets her roots done - you know, because it's really difficult to keep on top of that kind of thing - and she told me she just uses blonde dry shampoo to cover them up in the mornings. I never thought of that!"

(Yes, but Young Justice is American, so I'm guessing it's set in America, ergo they're in an American school)

(We have three periods before lunch too...)
Really? Philip writes. She can't do that forever, right? She's gotta dye her roots again eventually. Admittedly, he was a little confused by the subject change, but he was happy just conversing.

"Oh, yes," she said, waving her hand. "Of course. But it buys her a lot more time. Her natural colour is sort of dirty blonde, so it's really not that difficult for her to cover them up. We were talking as well about eyelash curlers; I have this heated thing that does them in five seconds. She was really interested in it, so I let her know where she could get one. You know, they're miles better than those metal ones - my Nan always used to say they look like torture devices."

They look like torture devices to me too, he wrote after a moment's thought. I don't know how girls manage all this stuff.

"I enjoy it," she laughed. "It's fun to be able to make yourself look nicer. I mean I know it's expensive, and some people can be really mean about girls wearing makeup, but it makes me feel better about myself. Honestly, I look like a frog with no makeup on!"

Probably not, Philip disagreed in ink. But alright. He shrugged, taking a bite of his sandwich.

She gave him a curious look, but shrugged any thoughts away as she turned to her own lunch to eat.

Philip drummed his fingers on the table as he ate. Hopefully his next class would be better... Philip leaned forward ever so slightly to glance at Jack before turning back to his food and clicking his pen repeatedly. He touched the tip of it to his paper, as if to write something, but eventually decided against it.

Fernando looked up from Angry Birds, his lunch untouched and to the side. "Well, it's great that everyone had a fantastic day so far. I hope we make it through to the end. Just keep an eye out for anything worthy of some action," he reminded them. "And learn something new. Like that whole thing about hair colors and dyeing that Lauren learned. That's pretty cool." Fernando looked at his lunch tray unhappily, taking a chunk out of the bread and placing it in his mouth. Chewing it slowly, he managed to wash it down with some Arizona Iced Tea. "Oh, and I don't recommend the bread unless you're stocking up for the apocalypse."
