"It's my mother." Her mouth felt dry. "I'll- yeah, I should." Her hand shaking, she answered the call. "Mom? Yeah... I'm fine. What are you doing... I thought... um. Okay. Talk later, then." Nova let out a shaky sigh as she hung up. "That was unexpected," she muttered as she leaned back into Cesar, still feeling unsure.

Cesar paused, taking a moment to think. "Different? Like how?" he mumbled, trying to thing of anything in their lives that had changed recently. He couldn't come up with anything major, which left him more confused than ever.

"Oh, I was just gonna..." Moby broke off, trying to find the right words. Giving up, he started over, "I know you guys technically already met, but this is Viola. She and I have been friends for a while, actually," he said, glancing over at the nurse as if to make sure she was still there.
