Due to his height, Jane had to take a step back as he stood, having been leaning over his shoulder a moment before. For some reason, it had never really occurred to her how tall Riley was. She only came up to his shoulder. "Thanks, I guess." She paused. "Well, let's get going then."

Jane wasn't sure it had just been "nothing", and she couldn't just forget about it, but she acquiesced nonetheless and continued walking. Occasionally, Jane would glance over at Riley to see if any sort of emotion showed on his face, but she couldn't hold her gaze for long enough without him noticing.

"We made it in time. Good." She climbed up the steps after him, moving ahead to lead the way to the Great Hall. As they got closer, Jane could hear the chattering murmur of conversation floating down the hallway.
