"See? This is why I told you it was a bad idea." She carefully stepped out onto the ice after Riley, slowly making her way towards him. Jane extended a hand in an offering to help him up.

Riley took her hand and stood up. "Ah, yeah. But see? It wasn't so bad. I mean, we're fine, aren't we?" A second later, the ice cracked beneath them, before breakinh comepletely and sending them plunging into the icy waters below.

Jane gasped at the shock of the cold water. Her muscles locked up and even when she floated up and broke the surface, she felt like the couldn't breathe. Chunks of ice bobbed around her head and her eyes were wide. When she was able to move again (though with difficulty) she pawed at the edge of the ice above, desperate to haul herself out. However, the ice only broke away in her hands. I'm going to drown!

When Riley managed to get himself to the surface, he immediatley panicked when he couldn't see her. Oh god, I'm an idiot, oh god is she drowns... Taking a deep breath, he went under again and managed to grab hold of he assumed was her waist, and pulled himself back up to the surface, trying to find a way to get out.

Jane felt someone...or something grab her. Her first instinct was to struggle, but she realized it could be Riley and decided against it. Oh, please be Riley and not some lake creature...

"I think I can get up myself," she mumbled. After a moment's consideration, she pushed away from Riley, grabbing onto solid ice. The jagged edges cut her palms, but she managed to haul herself out. "Here." Jane offered the Gryffindor her hand, ready to help pull him to safety.

Riley felt extremely guilty as they continued up to the castle, almost about to collapse. He began to count his steps as a way to stop focusing on the pain. 1...2...3...4...

Jane headed straight for the hospital wing once they were inside. The matron gave the two a concerned look when they walked in. Immediately, she instructed them to change out of their clothes, handing each of them new, dry ones.

Jane moved to a closed-off area and changed as quickly as she could. She was met by the matron once she was finished, who gave her multiple large blankets and sternly instructed Riley once more to change.
