Ricardo nodded shakily, racing down the hall. He felt numb, almost as if he were a bystander and watching himself, wondering what would happen. If it was really true.

Xander nervously appeared outside the portrait that was apparently the entrance to the Gryffindor Common Room. He had never been inside before and really, he should never go in. Maybe he could wait for- No. He furiously shook his head. Ricardo needed the book and his safety took priority over any doubts he may have over entering another house's common room, no matter how much trouble he could get into for doing so. Taking a deep breath, he glanced down both ends of the corridor before uttering the password, 'custard', and stepping through the hole that had appeared behind the swinging frame.
Much to his relief, the room was more or less empty and those who were still there thought nothing of his appearance, not even glancing up to acknowledge him.

Vincent heard the entrance swing open and he glanced up from his book to see who'd come in. He expected it to just be a Gryffindor, of course. Another one of his many classmates that he never spoke to. He looked down to return to his reading like he always did in this scenario. However, this time he did a double take. "Xander?"

"Vincent, right?" He was almost breathless from running all away from the Quidditch pitch to Gryffindor Tower, and really, when a familiar face called out his name, it was almost a godsend. It meant that he hadn't had to take time to actually look for the guy. "The book. You need to go get the book!"

"The book?" Vincent's heart skipped a beat when he realized Xander knew. How could he know? He couldn't! Ricardo and I are the only ones who know. It's our secret. Unless... Unless Ricardo told him... "Why?"

The Gryffindor's eyes widened and he darted up the stairs to the dormitories, returning a moment later with the old book hugged to his chest. "Where is he?"

"Near the Quidditch pitch." He answered quickly as Vincent returned, already moving towards the portrait hole. "He said he'd go to the storage shed and wait there."

Ricardo glanced around the commons, searching for a flash of bright red hair. He had made a detour from the party to pick Vincent up, but there was no sign of him.

Vincent was sat on his bed, ready for the party, but unsure of whether or not he should go. He stared at the closed book in front of him, mind wandering.
