Xander sniffed, wiping away an imaginary tear. "You guys... I thought I had made a better impression than that."

The corner of her mouth twitched. "Well you've certainly made an impression at least."

He shrugged. "I don't think I quite caught your name..."

Nicolas pointed his cane at the direction he guessed Xander was in. Which was the window. Giovanni gently nudged it to the right direction. "You're a Quidditch player and you go nuts over sandwiches. That much is a given. And considering all the weirdos in this whole friend/family group, you fit right in."

Xander laughed. "I think you've got me down to a T. I feel right at home already."

"I'm Tessa," she smiled. "You probably know some of my friends. They, err, turned up to quite a few of your matches last year."

"Friends..?" He trailed off, thinking hard back to last year's Quidditch season. "They wouldn't happen to be that one group who were always... erm, actually never mind. I think I know who you mean."

She blushed. "I'm sorry about that. They can be quite... Overbearing."

"Ah, it's fine." Xander tried to assure her. "I tend to block everything out once I get into the zone and by that I mean as soon as I kick off from the ground."

"You're a pretty big fan of flying, huh?" she laughed.

"I live and breathe it." He confirmed. "I'm completely addicted and I would say that it's ruining my life but it really isn't."

"I've never been a massive fan of flying," she told him. "I feel a lot better on the ground."

She grinned. "That good? Do you want to play Quidditch when you're older or something?"

"I have my fingers crossed. My dad's been trying to convince me to join his department in the Ministry for a stable job and just do office work but..." He faltered. "I feel like that's just the same as being dead." Xander paused before breaking into a laugh after realising how morbid he had just sounded. "I mean, who wants to be stuck in an office all day when you can feel the thrill of the wind at your back?"

"I'd hate to work at the ministry," she said, pulling a face. "I don't know what I want to do, but it'd be really cool to travel the world for a few months after I finish here."

"Well, a Ministry job isn't so bad. Not all the jobs are boring," Giovanni pointed out. "I mean, there's the Auror office. They're really tough. And the Department of Mysteries. I mean, they've got the Hall of Prophecy and the Ever-Locked Room..."

"The atmosphere is so uptight though," Tessa shrugged. "I couldn't deal with confidentiality either. I'm hopeless at keeping secrets."

"Desk work." He said simply, as if it was the most obvious explanation in the world.

"I wouldn't mind keeping secrets-- or a little desk work-- if it would mean getting access to exclusive research on the mysteries that humans have grappled with since our race cropped up. And almost every prophecy ever uttered. Besides, Aurors hardly ever have desk work. It's mostly their subordinates."
