Earth Kingdom

Kali squinted at the papaya, scanning it intensely. Nope. This one's bruised too. She picked up another one, exchanging the two.
"Um, miss, are you going to buy one of those?" The vendor of the fruit cart looked confused. "You've been standing there giving the papayas the death stare for ten minutes."
"Yeah, one second. I don't think this one's scratched." She passed a few coins over the counter, took her papaya, and began to leave, much to the relief and befuddlement of the vendor "Thanks!" Biting into it, she ducked out of the tent and back into the midday sun and the hustle and bustle of the city.

Kali sighed, gazing up at the clouds while she walked. Maybe there are air nomads up there... She was currently en route to her house on the East side of the town, but wasn't particularly rushing to get back. Hmm. It's nice out today. But I feel like I'm forgetting something. Man, I should start writing this stuff down.

Suddenly, Kali stopped in her tracks. "Tea!" She shouted into the crowd. "That's what it was!" She turned around, heading towards the tea vendor. Grandma's gonna freak if she doesn't get any tea. She whipped out a few silver pieces, rubbing them between her fingers as she scanned the tea stand.

Kali brushed dust off of herself, blinking a few times to gather her bearings. "Oh, it's fine. I wasn't watching. My fault."

Kali glanced back, and couldn't help but notice the way the girl feverishly searched for the coins. It didn't look like she wanted to spare any. Her and the little boy's clothes were dusty , and they looked weary. She wanted to help, but she didn't want to seem too awkward... What if the girl was really just one of those coupon clippers? She flicked one of the gold pieces she had been holding for the tea onto the ground near the girl's hand, and slinked back into the crowd, continuing towards the tea vendor.

Tikaani slowly walked through the streets of Ba Sing Se, looking around at all the people and buildings. Maybe here I'll find the Avatar... or some answers.

Tikaani sighed. This might be easier if I had Siku. Pulling what seemed to be a whistle out of her bag, she blew it, and moments later, what seemed to be an enormous dog ran over, knocking over stands and other small things in its path. Tikaani winced.

"Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry!" Tikaani apologised, looking mortified at the fact that her dog had almost knocked over and possibly injured a small child. "Siku never seems to realise how big he actually is. Are you alright?"

Tikaani was slightly taken back by his enthusiasm, but smiled. "Of course you can. Siku's friendly, so don't worry." The last comment she aimed more towards the girl, who seemed to be the boy's sister. "I'm Tikaani, by the way. From the Southern Water Tribe."
