The Library

"Yeah, he's doing great. At least, I think he is." He hesitated for a moment. "See, maybe it's just me but it feels like our entire group is getting... Out of touch with one another, they've all split up into their little pairs and it seems like ages since we've all gotten together and done something, you know? For the fun of it all." Xander had no idea why he was telling her all of this but for once, he felt as if he was beginning to understand something, anything, just a tiny fraction of whatever drove them on. "It felt like everything started to crumble after New Year's... But hey, enough of that, this entire thing is making me lose concentration and I gotta find those runes."

"Hm? Oh that'd be great. There are thousands of these stupid runes and the book I used last time was checked out a couple of day ago." He huffed, resting his broom against the shelf to pick up a rather large 'dictionary' of sorts. "If they have meanings in regards to balance and preservation, they'd be a huge help but the problem with old books like these is that you can tap the pages and find what you want so it's back to the old fashioned way of doing things." He didn't mind it all too much despite his grumbling because flicking through and absorbing the contents of the books helped him in the long run and his grades certainly weren't complaining in the slightest.

"Nutjob..." He repeated, trying to look as offended as possible to no avail. Maybe it had something to do with the laugh he was struggling to hold back. "But yeah, that's me; Xander Beckett, Ravenclaw Keeper extraordinaire! The Quidditch season is nearly over but my house is in the perfect position to defend our title, it's great." Flying was one of the few things he got overly enthusiastic and passionate about, much to his parents' dismay, but it never stopped him from devoting the majority of his time to the sport.

Xander's eyes widened, taking an automatic step back. "Are you kidding? Please tell me you're kidding. I'm not going to be able to eat comfortably in the Great Hall for weeks now. Urk." He laughed weakly, making a mental note to maybe 'hire' one of his dorm mates as a poison tester or to just sneak into the kitchens. "That would have been brutal... Our reserve would crack under the pressure, he hasn't played a single official game before, you know?"

"I'm counting on it." He grumbled quietly, huffing. It wasn't unheard of to attempt to sabotage players before a match but it was largely frowned upon, of course, Xander wouldn't put it past anyone to try. "Those laxatives are legit nasty, if I wanted my bowels cleaned out, I'd eat prunes or something."

"So... just curious, but when do you think you'll have some down time next? I mean, since you're busy studying and all."

"Nah, it's okay," Riley replied with a small smile. "Well, I mean actually, that would be nice! But still, it's just that, I realised, you know, we still haven't really been.. on.. a proper date, type thing, since I asked you out."

"Are-are you sure? I really don't want to get in the way of your study too much..."

Riley smiled. "Okay. That's good, that. So, tomorrow's Sarurday, yeah... so I guess, we have a date?"
