Sabine crouched beside the fractured bush, gazing at it intently. She thanked her lucky stars that she was alone. It'd be dead embarrassing to fail at catching something while someone else watched.

"Whatcha doing?" a voice asked behind her. The young Heir of the Dusk Syndicate was behind her, watching the she-cat with interest. He puffed out his chest proudly. "You didn't know I was there, huh?" Banquo was only four moons old, but he tried to look as impressive as his father.

She whirled around to see the kit. "Oh, hello," Sabine meowed pleasantly. Had it been any other kit, she'd not have been so welcoming.

A white she-kit followed the kit to the hunting grounds. "Hi!" She squeaked, fluffing out her snow-colored fur at sight of the older cat. "Did you catch anything?"

Sabine looked around, hoping for a little mouse, somehow trapped in the sharp branches, but nothing was there. "All right, you've got to crouch down like this, tail down, ears up, and use your nose and sense of hearing to locate prey."

Banquo squatted down, his tail sticking straight up in the air as he tried to copy Sabine's crouch. "Like this?" he squeaked.

His brow furrowed in concentration, the kit lowered his tail. His tail and crouch still weren't nearly low enough, and his center of balance wasn't strong enough. "Is this better?" Banquo asked.
