Pikapaw could hear another growl, and could see a blurry gray shape behind the other one. With a gasp, she realized the fox was creeping up on Owlstar. "Owlstar, look out!" she cried. She arched her back and fluffed out her fur as far as it would go, snarling as fiercely as she could, trying to hide the terrified thumping of her heart. "Leave us alone!"

The fox hesitated, then leapt forward with a snarl. Owlstar whipped her head around and made a futile attempt to stop the fox by throwing out a paw. The fox hurtled past her and closed in on Pikapaw. (Gtg, goodnight  ) |

Pikapaw saw something rushing at her. She shrieked in fear and tried to leap away, but there was only rock behind her. The fox's jaws closed on her shoulders and back. She felt herself being lifted into the air and flung away from the fox, slamming back into the hard rock face of the mountain. Pain shot through her entire body, and she only had a few moments of consciousness before she blacked out.

"No!" Owlstar screeched, pelting over to Pikapaw's side. "Pikapaw!" she mewed frantically, nudging the apprentice gently with a paw. "Oh StarClan, Pikapaw…"

The apprentice was unmoving. Done with her, the fox whirled on Owlstar, snarling fiercely.

Owlstar hurled herself at the fox, ignoring its claws and teeth as she ducked under its jaws and biting its throat as hard as she could.

The fox drew back with a yelp. Owlstar's blow hadn't been enough to kill it, but it was badly wounded. It drew back, turning and racing away with little yelps of fear. Its fellow hesitated, then gave Owlstar a final growl before slinking away after its companion.

Owlstar rushed back to Pikapaw and began licking her ears frontally in an attempt to wake her. "Wake up," she murmured, sitting up helplessly.

The small apprentice stirred, groaning. Her head was throbbing with pain, her shoulders bruised and sore, and she felt dizzy and nauseous. A familiar face swam in front of her, becoming clearer as she blinked. "Owlstar?" she mewed, voice hoarse. Owlstar's face was closer enough to hers to be seen in clear detail, for once. She coudl see the plain fear in her aunt's eyes.

"Oh, thank StarClan," Owlstar mewed, licking the top of Pikapaw's head. "Are you okay? We need to get you back to the camp," she said anxiously. "And where's Ligerpaw?"

Pikapaw scrunched up her face in surprise as Owlstar licked her head, but she didn't protest. "I'm okay, just dizzy and sore," she mewed. The ringing in her head was starting to fade, and her vision was starting to clear, as much as it ever was anyway. "I dunno, I couldn't see what was going on."

Ligerpaw jumped up the finale rock only to see Owlstar head looking right at him but he looked behind her only to see that the fox came back and was a tail lengh away creeping up on pikapaw whi was facing the other way "NO!" he yelled jumping over his leader running at the fox but before theu met head on he dove under the fox and pushed up with much force that the fox went flying into the air landing on its back before it could move Ligerpaw pinned him to the ground...

Owlstar's eyes widened as the fox shook Ligerpaw off. The fox growled, gave Ligerpaw a nip, and pelted into the forest.

About to give thekilling blow he stoped himself and big hard into both of its shorlder insted and let it go it ran off. he then saod "I should fallow it to make sure it leaves for good,you should get pikapaw back to camp." he started to run after the fox.

Pikapaw's head snapped up. She heard Ligerpaw call out, the snarl of a fox, saw moving blurs, heard some scuffling, and saw a blurry shape running off. She heard Ligerpaw tell Owlstar to bring her back to camp. "Is the fox gone?" she asked, trying to keep her voice from shaking.
