"We don't formally teach the kits hunting, no. Usually they just pretend to hunt each other. Once they're six moons old, they become apprentices and then they can learn hunting for real."

"Ah." He stalked a few paces. "My mother taught my siblings and I to hunt when we were very young. I was from her first litter. I was an adult by the time my siblings were born...I had to hunt for everyone. She taught them when they were two moons, and I had to take it over after she died."
