Harepaw sniffed the air carefully, eyes narrowed and focused. After two moons of training, Harepaw was a moderately skilled hunter. "There's a mouse nearby," he announced, ears flicking about to catch the various sounds of the forest.

The apprentice lowered immediately into the hunter's crouch. He slunk forward, silent and sleek, his tail perfectly still and his belly low to the ground. He could see the little creature nibbling on a seed, only a few mouse-lengths ahead of him. Harepaw gathered his haunches under him, gave a massive leap, and landed square on the mouse's back. The creature didn't even have a chance to squeak before Harepaw dispatched it. He picked it up in his jaws and padded back towards his mentor.

"Nice!" Ivyleaf commented, breaking a grin. "Here's a tip: if you plan on catching more, find a hollow tree to keep your kill in. That way you don't have to lug it around." She raised her nose, sniffing the air for herself. There was a squirrel shuffling at the base of a tree, and she quickly dropped down, putting on her game face. The squirrel turned, and catching it's reflex, she launched herself at it, biting down and killing it just as it was about to run.

Harepaw purred. "Nice catch!" He spied a tree nearby with room under the roots. "Here, we can bury our prey here." He padded over to the tree, burying it under the roots and covering it with dirt and leaves to keep it hidden.
