"Each to their own," she said with a shrug. "I think Vitakinesis is a pretty amazing skill to have. It's certainly invaluable in battle." She took note of the awkward demeanor the girl held, a little amused by it.

"You think so?" Alena's face lit up, an earnest smile adorning her features as she reached out to clasp the older girl's hands into her own. "I'm still a little shabby and it wears me out a lot when I use it though." She faltered slightly, glancing down before catching her gaze once more. "I think it's so much cooler to be able to raise your staff, utter a few words and 'BOOM!'"

"It... it doesn't quite work like that," Aisling said, distracted by the clasping of hands. She's either ridiculously socially awkward or a complete and utter nutcase, she deduced. Either way, it's very... sweet of her. I guess? "Sorry, what was your name again?"

"A-Alena. Alena Davies." She dropped her hands, awkwardly tapping a foot against the floor. "It's understandable if you don't know who I am, I guess... I mean, I haven't exactly been around too much and by that, I mean I haven't been around other people that much. That probably comes with getting sick a lot." She winced slightly, looking away. She was weak. She was weak and she hated how she was powerless to help herself despite her proficiency in healing others.

"You get sick a lot?" she couldn't help the smile that curved her lips. "Isn't your dad the god of medicine and healing? That's slightly... ironic."

"Oh, my mother is a doctor too if that helps." She added brightly, tilting her head ever so slightly to the side as she regained her smile. "I think Zeus has some grudge against us kids of Asclepius, I heard someone mention one time that he's probably paranoid that we'll start resurrecting the dead again - like that's ever going to happen."

Aisling chuckled. "Zeus is like that," she said quietly. "The gods like to punish us demigods for the acts of our parents. Hecate's done some pretty shady stuff too, believe me."

"Well that can't be fair." She pouted, furrowing her brow. "I don't get it's reasonable for the children to suffer when they haven't done anything wrong. Isn't... isn't he supposed to be justice?"

"Yes, although I'm not sure he's unbiased enough to act as judge." The sound of thunder could be heard from outside and she grimaced. "Zeus doesn't like blasphemy. Voice your opinions carefully."

She flinched, giggling nervously. "Y-yeah, that's a valid point. We... We should change the subject before he really finds a reason to do us in." Alena had never been a huge fan of storms, especially so since she rarely had anyone to accompany her during the more violent ones as a child due to the nature of her mother's profession and her own condition.

"So what's your troublesome past?" She chuckled. Everyone at Camp Half Blood had one, after all, and it was one of the most common ice breakers she indulged in if she found the time to talk to someone.

"Ehh?" She looked rather taken aback by the sudden question, taking a moment or two to compose herself and think of an answer. "It's... nothing too complex. I've actually been here for most of my life..." Alena fished out her camp necklace that had been concealed under her shirt with numerous beads strung onto the leather cord. "My mother thought it would be better for my health for me to simply stay here as a permanent resident so here I am. What about you?"

"My father's a poet," she said with a casual shrug. "We lived in poverty in Ireland for most of my childhood, and then a winning scratch card just appeared on our doorstep one morning. Hecate's doing, of course. She claimed me and I was led over here. I go back for a week or so every summer to see my father. He's happy, I think. And he has a new girlfriend almost every time I visit."

"That must be nice, to be able to see your father." She smiled weakly, closing her eyes. "I haven't left camp since I arrived, I mean, I'd love to go out but I'm not sure what would happen if I did... I feel as if there's some mystical force here that keeps the worst of the sickness as bay. But at least I can iris message my mother when... when she isn't busy."

"Maybe you should go and find your father," she shrugged. "He might be able to cure whatever's wrong with you, you never know. I'll bet he's in Greece somewhere; most of the minor gods are when they're not in Mount Olympus.

"Oh." Something seemed to click in her mind because a moment later, Alena seemed to have grabbed the older girl's hands again, stepping closer towards her. "I hadn't thought of that. You're... You're brilliant! Do you think I would be allowed to leave? And... Would you come with me?"

Aisling blinked, taken aback. That was certainly... Sudden. "Well," she cleared her throat. "It would be very dangerous, but it's not like anything's keeping you here. Perhaps you could apply for a Quest?"

"I.. er... I have no idea how to!" She declared cheerfully, still grinning despite faltering slightly. "Let's do it now, come on. How long do you think it'll take? And you... you will come, won't you?"

"Look, Alena," she said with a resigned sigh. "It really isn't that simple. You need to get an audience with the Oracle and collect provisions, and you'll need a bigger team than two... It's very complicated."

"But... But this is my chance to finally be able to get out and do something." She bit her lip in frustration, her face growing stiff. "I have to at least try... Do you know anyone who'll be willing to help? Please?"
