It took me hours in the lab, but it was all work it." He gradually got more enthusiastic as he began to talk about his technology. People were 'eh', but tech was always exciting.

Lauren rolled her eyes, silently following them to the portal. She wasn't particular to their petty squabbling, and preferred instead to stay out of it. In her experience, it was better to avoid small arguments so that people took you seriously when you really were annoyed.

Philip gave him a look that could kill, but shut the book with a snap. "Don't you think it would be a bit suspicious that two banks were robbed, one right after the other? It leaves us more vulnerable."

Jack crossed his arms as the portal hummed to life and took them away. He hated the feeling of it. He hated pointless technology like this in general-- why couldn't there just be stairs to the top? That way, some of these runts could get a workout, no scattering of his atoms involved.
