"No," she said, embarrassed. "I just... Uh, other people tend to be more interesting. And I find it hard to explain myself. So..." And she gestured vaguely, cursing herself for her awkwardness.

Ricardo shrugged, tracing his fingers over the cover of his book. "Makes sense to me. I don't like talking about myself all that much either. Or... talking, for that matter."

Tessa smiled. She could relate. "What are you reading?" She asked eventually. It was a question that avoided both of their personal lives, so should technically have been a safe one.

"A wonderful volume about the goblin wars," Ricardo told her, eyes bright. "It even has actual goblin testimonies. None of our teachers show us stuff like this!"

"Sounds interesting," she commented, although it wasn't the type of thing she'd enjoy. Each to their own. She'd prefer a non fiction book, if she had the choice. It wasn't that she didn't enjoy learning, or that she wanted to escape from reality, but reading about heroines similar to her made her feel like she could achieve things if she put her mind to it.

"It is! It's all from a more goblin-centric point of view, written by a wizard who infiltrated their ranks, and chronicles the Second and Third Goblin Wars. There are testimonies from all of the famous generals and commanders on the globin side. And there's sketches and drawings of goblin weaponry!"

"So you're a fan of goblin history then?" She laughed, angling her head to view the cover. "I can't say I've ever been all that interested in it."

"I'm a fan of any history, really. I like learning about most things. Except for Potions. And I'm not all that good at Transfiguration or Defense Against the Dark Arts."

"I quite like Defense Against the Dark Arts," she said, a little nervous as she voiced her opposing opinion. "I'm not too bad at practical magic. So I enjoy Charms and Transfiguration as well."

"I'm not sure I'd be a very good teacher," she mumbled, cheeks flushing again. "It's probably best if you let the professors do it. I'm sure I'd only confuse you more."

"...A-alright. If you think so." Ricardo shifted, tapping his thumb against the book. Come on. Make a move. Just... do it. She's not that intimidating.

She fell into silence again, regretting the fact that she'd just killed the conversation. Her gaze flitted up to his face, searching it briefly before she averted it again. I wish I wasn't so awkward.

Ricardo sighed. "So, uh... read any good books lately?" -- Elsewhere...
Jack threw hard, fast punches at the large punching bag, gritting his teeth. He didn't understand why he was stuck on a team with all of these losers, or on a team at all, but S.H.E.I.L.D. was forcing him to make do with what he had. Hopefully they wouldn't step on his toes too much, or steal his thunder. If they did, he had ways of making people disappear.

Tessa's eyes lit up. "There was one I read the other day about a witch whose magic was taken away, and she had to live with Muggles until she could get it back." She had been impressed, to be honest. The author had clearly done their research about Muggles, even distinguishing the differences between foods.
Lauren watched, eyes narrowed slightly. She didn't trust anybody in her new team. As of yet, she hadn't spoken to any of them properly, and she didn't really want to either. A sly smile touched her lips as an idea occurred to her. Fear. Emotions were hard to manipulate but she had practised and practised until it came easy to her, and soon she had channelled her thoughts into a gust of wind, which she threw at the punching bag with as much strength as she could muster.

Jack was pushed back by the punching bag, which hit him square in the chest. He spluttered as he stood, clenching his fists. "This had better not been one of you losers or I swear to God I'll wring your tiny little neck--"
--
"Huh. Was it very good? I know that usually the Wizarding view on Muggle culture can be rather skewed..."

Lauren smirked. I'd like to see him try. She closed her eyes, raising the temperature in the room by a couple of degrees. It was satisfying, she thought, to see how far she could push his nerves.

Tessa nodded. "I thought it was. It was quite interesting, seeing how useless we can be in unfamiliar situations. And obviously she had to learn how to do things without magic."

"That must be so awful. Having to do things with no magic. We can have anything we like with a flick of a wand, but Muggles have to do it all on their own. Poor little creatures." He clicked his tongue, shaking his head. "It must blow mudblood's minds when they wind up being able to do what we've been born doing."
--
Jack spat on the floor, stalking out of the training room. His work in there was redundant anyway. He was in top shape anyway, and certainly a much better villain than any of the wannabes on the team. He didn't need to train.

Fernando walked in-- well, rather, hoverboarded in-- to the room. He moved to the punching bag and wiped a cotton swab on it, collecting a sweat sample. Placing it in his pocket, he turned to Lauren. "Why's he upset?"

Philip sat huddled in a corner of the common room, mumbling to himself as he fiddled with various knives and flipped through a small book. Eventually, he stabbed a hunting knife through the pages in frustration, letting out a yell.
