"When I was in the room, watching all of you," Giovanni said slowly, "There was a screen. Showing a map of some sort, and where we were all on it. The thing that didn't make sense, though..." He shifted uncomfortably. "I can hardly remember it, but I remember thinking about a Minotaur. I think it was some sort of maze. Like a puzzle."

Vincent caught him by the shoulder. "Wait. It's probably a trap... I don't trust it. Especially if you say it's being weird and quiet." -- Philip ran towards the shape, which seemed to be a lot farther away than it looked. He felt slowed down, but at least he was getting closer. As he approached, he squinted, trying to make out the shape's face. It was definitely human at least. "What if they're hurt? Or in danger?" Ricardo pulled his wand from his pocket, staring at Vincent. "I need to check on them. They're my family." -- Jack frowned as the figure approached. Something seemed to be... Wrong. It was walking much more smoothly than Philip had as he was engulfed by the flames. After a minute of trying to find his voice, Jack dared to speak. "... Is that you?" Far off in the shadows, the other Jack calmly rested his chin on his fist. This one would be interesting to toy with, he figured. Rather handsome, too, which was certainly a relief. If only he could just get here faster. "Alright..." Vincent said eventually, sighing. "I'm coming with you though," he added stubbornly, -- Philip finally reached Jack, grinning and breathing heavily. He sank to his knees, wrapping the cripple in a hug. He pulled away and his smile faltered. Something was...off. The other Philip strolled up to Jack and smiled. This one looked vulnerable. Easy. And cute too.

"So we could meet everyone else somehow?" Tessa asked, eyes widening slightly. I need to find Nic. "Maybe we'd stand a better chance of getting out if we were in a group. Fewer shared fears, or something... I don't know." She struggled to her feet, knees protesting at the sudden movement.

"Maybe. And if I met you in a place where we shared a fear... Then logically, if either of us shares a fear with Nic, that's where we'll find him. Last I saw him, everyone was calling him... By his birth name."

"I think it's best if we stick together," Ricardo murmured, already beginning to climb through the forest and towards the house. "If there's some sort of threat here." -- Jack stated up at Philip, slightly confused by how calm he seemed to be-- especially now that the fire had almost completely engulfed him. He twitched his hand away from the Canadian, wary of the flickering flames. "Thank goodness you're here! I thought we'd be separated permanently."
The other Jack placed his hand on Philip's arm, not-so-subtly sliding it down to meet his teammate's own. "What's wrong? Are you okay?"

Tessa flinched, expression pained. For whatever reason, hearing about Nic's fears was almost as awful as describing her own. "Well neither of us have had to deal with that in the past. There must be something else." He's alone, and he can't see, and he's faced with his worst fears. At least I have Giovanni here with me now.

The sound of quiet footsteps began to echo down a hall that had not been there before. Giovanni visibly paled, grabbing onto Tessa's shoulder for support. "We'll have to worry about that later. I think our next challenge is here right now."

She felt somewhat reassured by his hand at her shoulder, and turned to face the sound of the footsteps. Quietly, she whispered, "do you know what it might be?" She certainly couldn't think of anything that might be one of her fears.

"I have no idea," Giovanni said softly as a figure perched silently in the doorway. He was tall, a rugged and worn-looking man of about nineteen. Scars lined his arms and neck, and an eyepatch covered his left eye, but the straight nose and curly, neat dark hair were unmistakeable. A Time Turner, situated on a delicate golden chain, was clutched in his right hand. Giovanni was speechless for a moment, something cold settling in the pit of his stomach. "He looks like me. Tessa, he looks like me. What... Who is he?"

Vincent nodded, following warily with a hand on his wand. "Let's just be careful... Who knows what's waiting for us in there?" -- The other Philip's smile widened and he placed a hand on Jack's cheek, tapping on the floor. Well, I am here now. We can find a way out.
Fine, Philip answered in Morse code, glancing down at Jack's hand in his, confused. You okay too?

Tessa froze, glancing sideways at her Giovanni before her gaze shifted back to the older version. "He is you," she murmured at last. "From an alternate timeline. Look, he has the time turner."

Ricardo stopped at the front gate, hearing a soft murmur of voices coming from inside. "That's them, alright," he said quietly, a frown tugging at his brows, "But they're only this quiet when they're.. Angry..." -- Jack flinched at Philip's touch and tried to pull away, the flames burning at the side of his face... Until they began to feel cool. The musty, thick air around him seemed to begin to clear. He blinked, surprised. "They... Don't hurt."
The other Jack grinned, lacing his fingers through Philip's. "A lot better. At least, now that you're here. I was scared while I was alone..."

Giovanni stared at the older version of him, breath hitching in the beginnings of a panic attack. "Wait... Have you met him before? Is he one of your fears, or mine? Oh, this feels wrong, very wrong, so wrong..."
The older Giovanni glanced at him before turning to Tessa, eyes full of silent pain. "Why did you leave me?" He asked softly, holding out the chain. "Why did you make me search for so long?"

"But what I'm wondering...is why they're out here in the middle of this forest. This feels weird, Ricardo. I'm not sure about this..." -- Philip nodded and moved closer to Jack until their faces were only a couple inches apart. It will be okay. I've got you now.
The Canadian tried to smile but only managed in clearing his throat awkwardly. He pulled his hand away from Jack's and stood. We will find a way out.

Tessa flinched away from the chain. Perhaps it was her fear, she thought, although it seemed currently to be more unpleasant than frightening. She gripped Giovanni's arm, hoping to calm him a little. "This never happened, remember," she told him, a slight quiver in her voice. "You were rewritten. Just like Bianca, and Elizabeth." She wasn't going to pretend that she could comprehend the complexity of their situation, but again the conviction in her voice startled her.

"You left me behind," the older Giovanni snapped. "You killed yourself, just like your sister, and left me to pick up the slack. You took years of my life from me and then just abandoned me. Don't you have any idea how selfish that was?"
Younger Giovanni put his hands over his ears, muttering quickly to himself. "Oh, this will have consequences, I thought you weren't supposed to meet yourself across timelines, this will be disastrous, oh god, oh god, why is this happening, I need to breathe, why is this happening..."

The Canadian tried to smile but only managed in clearing his throat awkwardly. He pulled his hand away from Jack's and stood. We will find a way out. "It's probably more of these weird--" The door burst open, revealing a patio full of whispering adults and an old, wrinkled woman who bore a striking resemblance to the Gryffindor. Wordlessly, she pulled Ricardo's ear down to her level, dragging him inside the house. -- Jack felt himself go bright red at the proximity of their faces. He hoped that the gently lapping flames covered it, for the most part. His voice came out as an overly fast, awkward stammer. "Uh... You're awfully close there, Phil. Everything... Everything okay?" The other Jack sighed, leaning his chin in his hand. "Can't we stay here a little longer? We're both pretty stressed out, and besides..." He raised his eyebrows, a smile tugging at his lips. "We're alone here."

Selfish. It seemed that her entire being came down to that word, so often she had heard it recently. Lizzie, Bianca, Giovanni... And she had no doubt that the list would grow. It was true though, wasn't it? Her thoughts had mostly been for herself, and it hasn't been until meeting Giovanni that she had even considered how Nic might be. Tessa shivered, raising a hand to her lips.
"Giovanni," she said quietly to the alternate, older version. "I- I didn't... I never..." But she wasn't sure what she could say. She couldn't change a thing of what had happened to him, only ensure that it didn't happen in her own timeline. I want to go home.

The older Giovanni stared at Tessa for a moment, expression stony. It softened somewhat, and he reached into his coat, pulling two wands from the pocket. "Don't you dare do to him what you did to me," he muttered, placing them in her hand. They were older, much more worn and torn versions of Tessa's and Giovanni's wands. The latter's had chipped slightly at the tip, revealing the shimmering unicorn tail hair inside. "You're probably going to need these later. There's a room at the end of the hall, that's the next fear."

Tessa sniffed, receiving the wands with just a nod, and turning them over a few times in her hands. She toyed with the idea of asking about which fear lay ahead for them, but decided that she didn't really want to know. Somehow, knowing what she was walking into seemed like a bad idea. Instead, she ran her tongue quickly over her bottom lip before speaking. "Are you... Whose fear are you? Mine or... or other Giovanni's?"
