As the girl slipped further beneath the waves, she turned her face upwards to try and keep her face above the water. She caught sight of Elizabeth and froze, choking back a wordless sound, induced by either shock or fear or the struggle of trying to stay afloat, or perhaps a combination of the three. In the moment that her limbs stiffened, she found herself being dragged downwards, and could not seem to move again.

"Vincent?" Ricardo's hand hesitated over the Gryffindor's shoulder, wondering if he should wake him. -- Jack inspected the cane for a moment. "Horse head. Nice." He leaned heavily on it for a moment before looking up. "Alright. We're going to need to find some exit. Last I checked, they were all blocked off." -- Elizabeth only tilted her head before reaching out a hand, emitting a soft white glow over the surface of the water.

Vincent's face calmed, but silent tears spilled from his eyes. He clung to the corner of Ricardo's robes for a while before a sudden look of surprise came over him. Vincent's eyes flew open and for a moment, he wondered where he was. Then he saw the fabric of Ricardo's pants and the fistful of robes he had. Oh... He turned over, facing Ricardo's stomach, and looked up. Vincent just averted his gaze, trying to wipe away the wetness still on his cheeks.
--
Philip huffed, wishing for the millionth time that Jack knew sign language. If he'd had his notebook, it would be a different story. Maybe he would just have to teach him. He acted out breaking something open, shaking his head questioningly and feeling silly all the while.

Ricardo grabbed Vincent's face in his hand, eyes wide. "What happened? What was your dream? Did-- Did I do something bad to you? Was it me? I'm sorry!" -- Jack felt a smile spread across his face, exposing the dimples on his cheeks. "Uh... Smashing something," he guessed. "Breaking out? The window, you mean?"

Vincent shook his head slowly, letting the quiet of the forest draw out and the sound of crickets calm him. "You didn't do anything, Ricardo. Relax," he sniffed, falling silent again. "You went to help La Llorona... And then she came for me too. That's all."
--
He shrugged, then nodded, holding back a smile of his own. His little sister had dimples too, and everyone thought it was just the cutest thing. If Philip was honest with himself, they were pretty cute on Jack too. He coughed, looking away. Focus. Philip gestured to the cane Jack was holding, which appeared to be the only thing on the stage heavy and durable enough to break glass.

Ricardo leaned his forehead against Vincent's, falling silent for a moment before speaking. "If... If you're sure. I'm sorry you had to have a dream like that." -- Jack glanced at Philip, noticing how red he had just gotten. It was weirdly adorable, the more the cripple thought about it. He handed the mute the cane, laughing nervously. "I think it's best that you do it."

Vincent closed his eyes, sighing. "It's alright. I'm fine," he said softly. A minute or so passed before Vincent put his arms around Ricardo, hugging him tightly.
--
Philip nodded quickly, walking over to the nearest window. He stood perpendicular to it, stance wide and holding the cane as if it were a baseball bat. He swung, and a pane shattered, sending shards of glass at Philip. He took another swing, managing to break enough to allow them to escape. He made his way back over to Jack, returning the cane to him. It had suffered a few scratches, but nothing major. Philip brushed off the pieces of broken window from his jacket, ignoring the tiny cuts that appeared on his hand.

Ricardo held Vincent in silence, wondering if he was telling the truth about the dream. Of course he is, it makes sense and he wouldn't lie like that . -- Jack nodded. "Right. Now, I can't exactly climb, so you're going to have to throw me over."

Vincent shook in Ricardo's arms, the scene playing over and over again in his head. Ricardo hitting him away, trying to get to La Llorona, and eventually slapping him across the face. After the ghost had finished with Ricardo, she came for Vincent. He hadn't even tried to run. He buried his face in the Gryffindor's shoulder, clutching at his robes. He wasn't going to let go this time. -- Philip shook his head. The opening was too small to successfully throw someone through without the possibility of them hitting the glass. It was just too dangerous. He looked down at Jack, and then at the jagged glass surrounding the hole in the window. There was no way the cripple wasn't going to get cut up, and he certainly didn't need any more scars. Philip slipped off his jacket and put it on Jack. The thick wool would be able to protect him. As he buttoned it up, he wondered why he hadn't just done this in the beginning, when Jack mentioned finding a shirt.

"Do you think you want to try sleeping again, or was the dream enough to keep you awake for a while?" Ricardo murmured the question into Vincent's ear, voice soft with hesitation. -- Jack tilted his head as Philip wrapped him in the jacket. It was soft and warm, and smelled like the Canadian-- a distinctive mix of something musty and plant-like and an herbal scent that he couldn't quite place. "What are you planning?"

"I don't know..." he answered quietly, unsure. He pulled away from Ricardo, laying back down on the Gryffindor's lap. "It should be my turn to keep watch soon, so I'll probably just stay awake." -- Philip didn't answer. Instead, he scooped Jack up in his arms and carried him to the window. Carefully, he leaned through, trying to avoid the jagged glass that could stab into his stomach.

"Well, I'll stay awake with you," Ricardo murmured quietly, taking Vincent's hand. "If you're okay with that, that is." -- Jack held his breath, curling up to absorb the impact as well as he could when Philip dropped him on the other side.

"Ricardo, you need sleep too," he protested. "Once it's my turn, you need to get some rest." Vincent squeezed Ricardo's hand and pressed a small kiss to his knuckles. "Promise?" -- He looked down and watched for a moment to make sure Jack was alright. At least the window wasn't too far from the ground. Philip followed after he was sure Jack hadn't been hurt, slipping through the hole in the window and landing with a grunt.

Ricardo leaned down, hesitating for a split second over Vincent's lips before placing a quick kiss on his forehead. "I promise." -- Jack uncurled, grimacing at the pain his his back. "Are you okay? Did you get cut at all?"

The Gryffindor smiled at the pleasant buzz leftover on his forehead from Ricardo's lips. He closed his eyes with a sigh. "Good. Thank you." -- Philip glanced down at him palms before showing them to Jack. Small cuts crisscrossed them. Thin red lines of blood that stung like hell. He shrugged, helping Jack to his feet carefully.

Ricardo smiled, leaning back and placing his arms behind his head. "With all this weird stuff hats been going on," he said softly, staring at the sky, "I really hope my brother's okay. We need to look for him."

"You're right. And the rest of our friends too. That is, if they're actually somewhere out there." First, they had to get out of this forest, if that was even possible. -- Philip huffed, pressing his palms together and clotting the blood. He glanced up at Jack and, wiping the leftover blood on his pants, showed his hands again.
