The air dropped in temperature as something pearly white began to appear through the trees. Ricardo's eyes widened. He felt sick to his stomach as every memory of his cousins' ghost stories began to rush back at him. At this point, using her name didn't even matter. "La Llorona."

Gripping Ricardo's arm firmly, Vincent positioned himself in front of the Gryffindor. Whoever this ghost lady was, he wasn't going to let her hurt Ricardo. Vincent repeated this mentality over and over again in his head, trying to keep himself from shaking too much.

La Llorona floated out of the trees, her ghostly rags hanging silver from a painfully skinny body, wracked with sobs and screeches. A gurgling, haunting voice ripped through the air. "You took them! You took my babies!"

"S-she drowned her... her children in a river," Ricardo explained quickly, trying to steady his voice. "And-- and when she realized what she did, sh-she killed herself! Now she spends her afterlife trying to find them. But we can't feel bad for her. We can't."
"Please," came the wracking whisper, punctuated by a sob. "I need help! Help my find my babies!"

"I don't know, I'm no exorcist!" Fog began to form thick in the air. As the ghost continued to cry, the trees around her parted to reveal a large lake. It had definitely not been there before. Almost against his will, Ricardo could feel himself beginning to walk near it.

"No! Ricardo..." Vincent grabbed the Gryffindor's arm, dragging him back. "She's trying to trick you or something. We need to get away." As the spirit's moaning droned on, Vincent pulled Ricardo towards a deeper part of the forest. "Maybe if we ignore her..."

Vincent shook his head. "Huh-uh. She's going to hurt you. It's all a lie. Come on..." A cold stone settled in his stomach, seeing Ricardo like this with his mind taken over. What if he couldn't stop Ricardo from going to the lake? Beginning to doubt himself more and more by the second, he tugged Ricardo farther away from the clearing, hoping that distance might break whatever spell this was.

"Ricardo! She killed her own children! She's a murderer! Can't you see that this is all a ruse? Who knows what a powerful spirit like her will do to you if she can get her hands on you..." Vincent wished he was strong enough to carry Ricardo. Maybe then he wouldn't be able to escape. Well, he'd just have to settle for the next best thing. Wrapping his arms around the Gryffindor, he threw himself to the ground, pinning Ricardo beneath him.

Ricardo struggled under Vincent, surprised by how much stronger he had become since they met. "She's sorry! That's why she's looking for them!" La Llorona's cries became louder, and Ricardo began to move more violently, almost as if he didn't care whether or not he hurt Vincent in his attempts to approach the ghost.

"Ricardo, stop! She's not sorry! She probably wants to consume your soul or something, I don't know!" He winced as Ricardo's elbow hit his nose. "Just stop moving!" Vincent managed to pin down Ricardo's arms with his own, leaving his hands free to cover the Gryffindor's ears. Vincent figured that if he couldn't hear La Llorona, he might not want to go help her.

Vincent grinned, then blushed at the close proximity of their faces. He sat up, sniffing and wiping the blood from his nose on his shoulder. Making sure to keep Ricardo's ears covered, he carefully got up off of Ricardo's chest to let him stand.

"I, uh... You kinda hit me with your elbow," Vincent replied with a shrug. "You were trying to get away and go help that spirit-y lady. It's no big deal." Vincent sniffed again, the familiar metallic taste running down his throat. "We should go before she finds us."
