Human kind can not gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain something of equal value must be lost. That is Alchemy's first law of equivalent exchange.
Alchemy is the science of turning lead into gold. Or, you know, other stuff into other stuff. You get the idea. Takes place in Amestris, a state recently ravaged by the attacks of an evil group of homonculi wishing to become more powerful than any god could be. Character Sheet:

Race: Xingese+Liorian (Chinese+middle eastern)
Appearance: Average height, tan, wears black hair about shoulder length tied loosely to the side
Personality: generally quiet, is very perceptive. a little bit of a motherly type, she takes in a lot of lgbt or homeless kids off the street and employs them in her bakery.
Alchemy: yes. along with the basic alchemy training shes had, her favorite type is the sensing and manipulation of energy flows

Race: Half Drachman, half Amestrian
Appearance: Oliver is tall and pale, with a strong jawline (inherited from his Drachman father), dark brown hair and startling blue eyes.
Personality: Whilst trying his best to work for the greater good, he has selfish tendencies that come about as a result of being perhaps too ambitious. Having been subject to particularly high expectations by his parents (after his older sister did so well for herself), he is prepared to do pretty much anything to get what he wants.

Race: Liorian
Appearance: Very tall and slender, with tan skin and large, heavy-lidded brown eyes. Her nose is prominent. Asafeh has long, thick, wavy black hair, often tied back with a strip of cloth, and large, long-fingered hands.
Personality: Honest, straightforward, and serious. Asafeh is very direct and refuses to lie, demanding equal transparency from those that are close to her. Despite this fierce commitment to the truth, Asafeh is not humorless, although she is often rather crude and even downright cruel in her joking. Even with this rather unsavory taste in humor, the wanderer is a truly caring and loving person, although her brand of affection can be deemed to be rather tough.

Ollie stopped outside the bakery, glancing up at the sign to check he had the right place. He brushed down the front of his royal blue military uniform, hoping he at least looked more presentable than he felt. At each shoulder, a single golden star adorned his jacket, along with the customary stripes. As he pushed open the door, the smell of freshly baked bread hit him, and Ollie was suddenly aware of the fact that he hadn't eaten that morning.

"Uh, thank you," he said, unsure of how to proceed. "I was wondering as well, could I buy some bread?" As if to prove a point, his stomach let out a rather loud growl. An uncharacteristic blush rose to his cheeks, and he hoped neither woman would point it out.
