Vincent said softly, leading Ricardo at an agonizingly slow pace back to the castle. But it was the fastest they could go if Ricardo was going to stay conscious. "Ricardo... I know it might be hard to believe, but that wasn't me. I promise you, that wasn't me. Not really, anyway."

Moby's World
The entire world began to shatter, fragments of reality falling in incomprehensible shards as the perfect creation of Moby's mind faded away with it. The monster screeched as she began to die, a wound appearing in the same place as Moby's had.

Soon, Moby's vision began to fade to black. His body grew numb and he closed his eyes, managing a small smile. He squeezed Viola's hand once more before slipping into unconsciousness. It wasn't even cold yet.

Elizabeth stared calmly into the destroyed dream world, now an expanse of endless black. With a sigh, she turned away, the doorway of sorts closing in on itself. It seemed that already two of her test subjects had failed. Still, it would be fun to see if the others were stronger than these two.

Vincent was confused for a moment. But he could catch glimpses of memories still. Memories of lying in bed with Ricardo and holding his hand, as well as more than a few kisses. He blushed furiously, but nodded. "Yes, I do love you in the same way. I love you very much. Ricardo, I promise I'll explain everything to you once we get back to the castle."

Ricardo only nodded, closing his eyes and forcing himself up the steps to the castle. Vincent's words relieved some of the pain in his heart, like a salve on a burn. He loves me too. Vincent loves me back...

When they got to the hospital wing, Vincent laid Ricardo down on one of the beds, getting bandages and wrapping them clumsily around his arms and legs. Hesitating, he unbuttoned Ricardo's shirt and wrapped bandages around his chest too, to stabilize the broken ribs. "Ricardo, I—I'm so sorry..." he murmured.

Vincent nodded slowly. "Alright... When I woke up this morning, I couldn't help but notice that things were a little off. Stuff was missing here or there, and people were acting strangely nice to me. And then... But it seemed like, at the same time, it was just you and me and Giovanni. No one else. It was so strange. Something was different about you, too... Anyway, it wasn't long before I started feeling funny myself. Everyone else disappeared and then it really was just you and me. I started having these strange feelings, like I wanted to hurt you, but I didn't at the same time. By the time we went on that walk, I felt like I had no control over myself. I couldn't hardly think or even move on my own. I could only watch as the whole fog thing happened, like a movie. I couldn't stand seeing you in pain like that, Ricardo. It was horrible... I had taken over myself. As in, another me, or, at least the entity of one. When you started crying out, I tried to stop myself. I really did. I started gaining back some control, and eventually, I was somehow able to get rid of that other me thing." Vincent reached for Ricardo's hand and took it gently. "I'm just so sorry..."

Ricardo closed his eyes, allowing himself to relax. "It's... I accept your apology. That wasn't you. No wonder... you'd never do something like that." He brought Vincent's hand to his lips briefly. "Please, just... be careful. Whatever that was could come back. We need to be ready for when it does."

His voice shook for a moment before he let go of Vincent's hand, pulling at his hair anxiously. "Ugh. Just listen to me. Everything I'm saying is just an idealized version of my actual personality. Since when can I actually apply logic to anything?"
