The nearest things that they'd picked up, supplies that is, come before him, but it's alright, since he can just about shove them through with ease, expecting her to take them and move them out of the way. Wouldn't want to make the visit completely void, after all. ... Hey, she's helping him out, or offering to at least. Clearly the visit wasn't worthless, since he seems to have gained at most a companion, and at least an ally. But, now's not the time to dwell on that. Now's the time to get out, which he does, not actually needing her help to utilise his rather impressive upper body strength and pull himself straight clean out of the window. Nice.

Violet took the boxes, arranging them in the most efficient way to carry. The window slammed shut just as the door slammed open. It seemed they'd gotten out just in time as the voices of the gang members raided the shelves of the storeroom. "So, uh," Violet made sure to keep her voice low. "Where to?"

He pauses for a moment, watching her carefully, before his face splits in a grin, and he shrugs. 'Dunno. Wherever's safe, probably.' And then, he starts off walking, making sure to keep his pace just a little slower than usual, so she can keep up. He has no idea where he's going, but hey, they're bound to find something at some point. 'Theodore, by the way. Prefer Theo though. Less fancy, and it takes less time to say.'

"I'm Violet. Nice to meet you," she returned the greeting, shifting the boxes slightly. "Did you live around here?"

A sigh, and a slow, careful nod of his head follows, before he holds out his arms. 'Here, I'll take some of those. And yeah, I guess so, if you can call this current situation living, really.' Clearly, he doesn't, brow furrowed and top lip curling up in distaste at the thought.

Violet nodded. "It seems like it would have been nice down here. I lived up in the city, but as soon as the plague started getting big we moved. Too many people up there. Did you have any siblings?"

'Yeah, it used to be nice, until that whole mess happened. It's still pretty freaky to think about, really, so let's not. The fewer people the better, so that's why there are a few more people that survived here. Or, I think that's right... I haven't been to the city to see how many people are left. Maybe it'd be a good idea to search for supplies there...? Oh, no. Only had my parents but... Well, I don't have them anymore.' His gaze saddens slightly, and he looks off to one side, away from her for a moment, before setting another cheerful smile on his face and returning his glance to her face. 'What about you?'

"I had a brother. My parents went first when we still lived in the city, so we moved out and have been nomadic for about 3 months. He died a few weeks ago. He was shot while looking for supplies one day. Whoever did it was gone by the time I found him." She sighed kicking a pebble down the sidewalk. "It's amazing how much somebody can change in such little time. Did you have any hobbies?"

He stays silent, after she's finished talking, just for a brief while, as if thinking over the things she's said. When he does open his mouth to speak, it's slow and hesitant, in case he treads on a sore spot. 'So you've been through a lot, then. Lost quite a few people unprepared. I'm sorry for all your losses. This whole plague nonsense has been the worst. Still, at least there are some of us left.' It's not much of anything to uplift either of them, and it is in fact just a straw of hope that he's grasping at desperately. Still, can't really blame him. 'Hobbies... I was a sports kind of person. A swimmer, actually. Though I guess that's obvious right?' He's assuming, since he does have a swimmer's build. 'Didn't do much else, to be honest.'

Violet nodded. "I was into art back then, but I dunno. It all just seems like somebody else's life at this point." She looked up, registering the noticeably darker tone of the sky. "We should find shelter before it gets dark."

'Art, huh? Never been one for that. You were probably great. Probably still are, too, but I imagine you haven't had much of a chance to practice in this state.' Maybe he can find some supplies for her to actually do so, despite the chances being slim. After a soft, non-committal sound akin to a grunt, he follows her gaze with his own, turning his head to glance at the sky and making another sound, this one in affirmation. 'I usually stay in a house around here. It's kind of small, but I barred everything up to be safe.' Huh. Such a short time, and I has already become we.

"That's smart. I usually just set up a trip wire where ever I decide to camp out for the night," she motioned to the long string of twine coiled around her wrist. "This stuff is really handy if you can find it. I found this in an old craft store a while ago, but that's all I've seen around here."

'Yeah, it's real handy. You gotta be big enough to force your way in somewhere, and then claim it as your place, as well as scaring off the smaller people. Size is nearly everything right now, so I guess you've been shortchanged.' He grins a little at that, rubbing the back of his neck with one hand. 'But, seeing as you think of stuff like that, I guess your strengths lie in other areas, huh? That's good.'

'Oh, that'd be a real help, really. And I guess how strong you are doesn't matter now, really, since I have enough muscle for the both of us.' It's clearly a joke, despite the hints of truth, and after he says it he raises his arm, flexing his muscles with a ridiculously wide grin.

Violet allowed herself to laugh, and she couldn't help but roll her eyes. "Honestly though, strategy is just as handy as brute force believe it or not, as long as you have the right supplies. At one point I considered traveling back into the city and going through my old art stuff, but it's not worth the risk. Besides, if there was anything useful there it's probably been raided by now."

Ah, it's good to hear someone laugh after so long. Good enough to force a soft chuckle past his own lips, before he chooses to focus properly on her words. 'Yeah, I imagine it would be. I may be pretty big, but I'm not the biggest, so I rely on a lot of one and a little of the other. I guess though, now we have a lot of both.' A pause, even in his footsteps, where he thinks about it, before he nods. 'Yeah, I get that. Swimmers don't really have 'stuff', so I can't particularly relate though.'

"I think we've got an okay chance of lasting for at least a few months. With any luck, we might be able to find some sort of safe community with food and supplies..." Violet stopped to shuffle through the supplies they had raided from the store. "Speaking of which, we'll need resources. How long do you think this'll last?"

Name: Viola Jackson Age: 18 Appearance: Tall and slender, with light tan skin and thick, dark hair. Eyes are a light hazel-green. Arms and legs have a few scars, but one is notably covered in tattoos. Pierced lip and eyebrow. Other: Of Seminole descent. Before the pandemic, Viola was in her first year of learning to become a nurse, working a job as a model on the side. As soon as her younger sister died from the deadly disease, she left the city for rural area-- the day before the sickness began to ravage it. Her medical skills are useful for her in the wild, but her survival skills are shoddy at best.

Viola walked among the trees slowly, trying to control the shake of her hands. It had been about a few weeks since the pandemic had quieted, leaving few people in it's wake. Now, wherever she walked, all she could see were the ghostly figures of the loved ones that she knew were dead. Maybe it's because I haven't eaten since two days ago, she thought, the brief concentration on her stomach bringing back notice of the loud rumbling. Or maybe it's because I've been spending so much time in the sun.
