Any sound from the others was drowned out by the river. Jampo went on packing, unaware of the group farther downstream. A minute or so later, a small creature hopped up into the saddle next to him. "Nabu! So you weren't lost after all." The lemur only climbed up onto Jampo's head, nibbling at his fistful of lychee nuts.

Wih Nabu on his shoulder, Jampo headed back into the woods to see if he could find anything edible to pack for his journey. He followed the river, moving downstream. His lemur chattered in his ear and the airbender smiled. "It's alright, Nabu. I left a few coins on her table to thank her. It's best if we leave sooner rather than later. I couldn't ask to stay another night."

Suddenly, he pricked his ears again before barking and leaping off into the woods. "Siku!" Tikaani cried desperately, racing off after the polar bear dog.

Nabu hissed and arched his back as Siku came barreling towards them. The airbender let out a cry of surprise, stumbling as he ran back to his bison.

Siku stopped just in front of them, barking and drooling. Tikaani finally caught up minute later, panting. "You- stupid- why- sorry-" she gasped, stopping next to him to catch her breath.

Jampo looked at the newcomer with curiosity. She appeared to be a couple years younger than he was, and she was wearing clothes that appeared to be from the water tribe. "Who are you? Is that your polar bear dog?"

Siku stopped for a moment and sniffed him, before happily beginning to wag his tail and lick Jampo. "After all that..." she muttered, sighing. "Um, can I ask who you are?"

Kari watched the exchange, not offering any input to the conversation. Her mind was reeling. In one day she had lost her mother and been recruited as the Avatar's earthbending master. Sure, he was only a boy and looked to be poor and unrecognised, but she was still just a peasant. Surely he needed someone with the best teaching facilities and enough money to house him comfortably whilst they trained.
