Appearance: Short, with deep tan skin and long, black hair that is usually braided back. Her eyes are strikingly bright gold.

Personality: Responsible, protective, prim, and proper; all to the point of being uptight and a stick in the mud. She has developed mental barriers after living alone and being responsible for her brother for so many years, so she is generally suspicious and harsh towards those who she feels are a threat towards herself or Rajiv. Despite her pretentious, uptight attitude, she is truly gentle and caring-- but this side of her has been deeply buried over many years of having to become an adult too soon.
Other: She and her brother are the children of a deceased waterbender and firebender, who were also travelers, who died when Hiranya was ten and Rajiv was three. They left the responsibility of a toddler on Hiranya, which left her growing up with some resentment at never getting to be a child. She and her brother sometimes tag along with groups of nomads, but never stay for very long, preferring to provide for themselves. She has a pet name, Yaya, used only by her brother, and formerly by her parents. She hardly ever uses her bending, living almost as a non-bender, as she was never taught how to control her fire (she cannot afford a teacher). She worries that she might eventually end up hurting Rajiv or destroying one of their few precious possessions, so she avoids her bending altogether.

Personality: Your typical rambunctious 9-year-old. Rajiv is very excitable, curious, and ready for any adventure. His optimism and short attention span often make his rather annoying to his more pessimistic, focused older sister. He regularly gets emotionally attached to random objects and people.
Other: Rajiv happens to be the Avatar, unbeknownst to himself or his sister. After all, they never had any use for bending and hardly ever used it. Even then, it was always Hiranya.

Other: Owns a large white Polar Bear Dog named Siku, who is her companion. He has travelled with her since he was a small pup, and the two have a deep bond.
