With one last sweeping look across the Quidditch pitch, he took off and sprinted straight for the castle, ignoring the headache that had grown increasingly more unbearable. It was only when he reached the stone steps leading towards the Entrance Hall had he realised how furiously his heart had been pounding in his chest. "Merlin." He muttered under his breath, frowning lightly. "Am I really getting that out of shape?"

Ricardo crawled to the shack, flinching as he dragged his wing behind him. His muscles screamed pain as he dragged himself into the wooden structure, feathers littered behind him.

"Merlin, Merlin, Merlin..." He started to panic again, a thick trail of dark feathers marking out the path Ricardo had taken. "I should have helped him there..." Xander almost stumbled to a halt at the door of the storage shed, flinging open the door that had been left slightly ajar. "Ace..!"

Vincent gasped at the sight of Ricardo huddled in the shed, one of his arms now looking like a broken bird's wing. "Oh god. Oh my god, Ricardo..." he murmured.

Ricardo looked up. "Vincent! Oh, thank god..." Carefully, he shied away from the light coming through the door. Maybe it would be best not to let Vincent see him in such a freakishly mutated form...

He knelt down beside him. "I've got the book, don't worry. We'll get you back to normal..." Vincent set the text down between them, flipping through the pages. "How did this even happen?" he murmured. "We've only gotten through the first step."

"I don't know," Ricardo admitted, fumbling with a small shred of his ruined shirt. "It kind of just... happened. Xander and I were just flying... and then he crashed into me and we were falling. We would have died if this wing didn't randomly show up."

"After this mess is over... Are you guys still going to continue with trying to become animagi?" He had ran off the initial panic from the fall when leaving the pitch earlier but that hadn't meant that he wouldn't worry. It was a long and dangerous process, Xander at least knew that much. With a sigh, he peered over Vincent's shoulder, lighting up the dimly lit shed with a hastily cast Lumos.

Ricardo squinted his eyes in the light. The wing's appearances had improved considerably, from being a stunted and ugly thing to looking much more avian. Icy white feathers had formed, making the wing look more magpie than crow. Half of his face was beginning to appear slightly more avian as well. The effects were subtle, but his face was contoured slightly differently. His brown eye had become a shade of fiery Orange, reminiscent of a bird. Part of his hair took on a feathery texture and shape. He leaned away from the light, glancing at Vincent for an answer. Should we? Is it worth it?

Vincent considered Xander's question, gazing at Ricardo. He couldn't help but wonder why he wasn't unexpectedly changing into some sort of animal as well. "I don't know... One one hand, if we start transforming like this out of the blue, we could get in serious trouble. But... If we could control it. Learn the spell and stop any transformations before they become noticeable... It—it could be worth it."

"Wait, wait!" Xander crouched down, his wand arm still raised. "There was some incantation on that page..!" It was hardly noticeable, scrawled in a fading ink in the margin but there was definitely something there beside the someone grotesque image of a failed transformation.
