Was that - could it possibly be - a confirmation? She straightened herself up on the bench, eyes almost lighting up. There was no point in her denying that there was nothing that she loved better than being able to showcase her abilities, call it a small habit she found herself ground in throughout her childhood. Her parents encouraged her to show it off and so she did and people loved it. There was nothing to be ashamed of for it. "It isn't." Raegan agreed with a nod, impressed and having struggled with the subject herself. She excelled at Divination, that was a given, and it was a very free subject unlike the strict, rigorous rules that had to be applied to Transfiguration. She wasn't used to that sort of thing so it was perfectly natural and besides, it was always difficult to begin with. "Was it too obvious?" She already knew the answer before she even asked the question. Lying and acting. The two things were almost synonymous and she utterly failed at both... That and Arthur was too perceptive. It was almost as if he could see straight through her and that was almost as unnerving as his pretty yet intense eyes. "That sounds worse that being blown up." She managed eventually, a sharp intake of breath preceding her words. "And also quite painful." Maybe exploding from a spell backfiring wasn't as bad as it initially seemed.

A confirmation, no. It's more an allowance, her being permitted, if she really wants to. It's not as if he'd say yes, seeking it out eagerly, after all, since his disbelief is still strongly placed. Honestly, he's probably trying to convince himself of that, since actually meeting someone who thinks divination is real has sparked a slight, almost insignificant interest in the branch. Interesting people invoke interest in certain things, after all. 'I enjoy it though.' Why wouldn't he, being just about top of his class in the subject? But... His smug expression right now doesn't do much in his favour, aside from making his small smirk a little more prominent, and dragging a slightly aloof look into his eyes. His arms stretch above his head again, and he shifts in his seat, wriggling his shoulders just a little, as though uncomfortable with his situation, before settling himself down again, with a nod. 'Yeah, it was obvious. Don't talk to yourself so much next time.' 'I don't know, if you could feel yourself getting blown up, I'd say that'd be worse. But maybe you wouldn't, and you'd just have the heart attack anyway. Who knows?'

She didn't just think that divination was real, she knew so, with a very high degree of certainty. She had yet to be proven wrong yet so surely that was enough. Frauds were often easily rooted out as it was impossible to keep up a charade for an extended period of time, they were bound to slip up eventually and that would lead to the unveiling of their inabilities. Not for her though. Never for her. She would even try to dedicate her time into persuading Arthur that it was a valid form of magic if she had to, anything, because she didn't deal well with criticism. "Well someone has to." She shrugged. Was it a bad time to mention that she was barely scraping an A in the subject? Wait, she needn't mention it at all. He looked far too content with himself for her to admit such a thing, confidence practically radiated from him so it was easy to assume that he was probably one of the best in the year. "So... What gave it away?" "Ah but shouldn't being blown up be something quick and simple? You'll have to live with mutilation as well as a sentence in Azkaban because really, there's no hiding a failed attempt at becoming an animagus when something like that's happened."

He'd prefer if she cut the stream of lies that she keeps spouting, about how it's a real thing, that has actual influence. In fact, he'd prefer not to think about this anymore as a whole, since it won't change a thing. Actually, mental discussion over, on his end anyway. Still, he has an appreciation for her deep-set belief, and her interest in it. Again, that same lock of curled hair falls from where the rest of it is pulled up, and he sighs a little, giving up this time, and now only twirling it round a finger slowly, rhythmically and methodically, as if it were a tic that he kept up, and as if it were muscle memory. It's not, of course, but it's a carefully practiced and deliberate movement. Weird, but hey, at least it's nice hair, and dark brown colour is a lovely shade. But it doesn't feel right, really, so with quick movements, he pulls the tie out again, and runs a hand through it, tousling it. Nice. An eyebrow raises at her remark and his head tilts, just a little. 'A lot of people do. And what gave it away was your general lack of lying ability, and how utterly obvious you made it with the way you worded things. Sorry to break it to you.' If he were someone else, he might snicker, but he's just him, so he won't. 'Nah, I'd definitely say it depends on a lot.'

Lies? That was absurd. Whilst she may have never been the most... considerate person to be around, she was still honest to the core. Lying never did come naturally to her but she had to admit, her parents always seemed to have the mystical ability to see through her audacious fibs. That put a quick stop to most acts of dishonesty early on. Hn. But it was pointless to argue her case if he remained as obstinate as ever so she decided to drop it... For now, anyway. She simply shrugged at his words, almost unfazed. "I guess I need to work on that. You should teach me how to lie sometime, you seem pretty knowledgeable at reading people. Maybe then I can convince my parents that I lost my dowsing chain so they'll buy me a better one." Raegan paused. Wait. "Ah, but back to the topic on hand, I think I'm too much of a busybody to let this whole issue slide with the not-so-hypothetical person." She rose slowly, her palms resting on the table top. "If push comes to shove, I'm going to tell a professor before they can seriously hurt themselves." A snitch, basically, and not the spherical lump of metal that flew too fast for anything to be fair. "Anyway, does that really matter? I'd think that anything is better than having to live with the pain of past mistakes, especially if they were so young..."

He can definitely believe that lying doesn't come easily to her. He could have even made the conclusion himself very quickly, seeing as he can pretty much see straight through her, and would likely be able to even without his impressive empathy and his ability to read people. Nearly every word that escapes her mouth is obviously the truth or not, no matter how hard she tries to hide it with piles upon piles of terrible lies. His elbow rests on the table, and his hand settles into his chin again, as he stares once more, though this time seeming... A little more judging. It's almost as if he can really see right through her, and he seems to disapprove, before his lips curl up into something like a smirk. 'You want to be able to deceive people? That's a ridiculous notion, you know. Why would I teach anybody how to be anything but honest? The only thing I can do... Is tell you what gives it away. What you do with that information is up to you.' It's almost as if he's found a loophole in his own moral code and dictation, as if that's his specific purpose anyway. An eyebrow arches slowly as she stands and informs him of her choices, before his shoulders raise and drop in a slight shrug. 'I don't care for it, so there's no reason to tell me, you know. It's just a waste of breath, if I were to be completely honest.' He really... Really doesn't care about it, and the only reason he's been talking on the subject is because it was interesting conversation in arm's reach. 'No. Everything depends on something else, so everything will always have a different outcome based on what it depends on. You can't tell, until things happen, really.'

Leo looked up from his breakfast as the owls flew in, placing down his cutlery. He could just about make out Izzy's tawny owl, and knew that it must carry news about Tessa. Suddenly feeling very anxious, he stood. The owl made its way across the room, finally stopping by the Ravenclaw table.

Giovanni glanced up at the bird, recognizing it to be his Aunt's. "No doubt news of Tessa," he told Nicolas, who was nibbling at a pastry. "We can all read it together in the Room of Requirement, I think."

The Hufflepuff hurried over to where they sat, noticing when he arrived that there were only four letters attached to the bird, addressed to Nic, Giovanni, Ricardo and himself respectively. In his haste to receive the news, he didn't even realise how this might be odd, and instead reached to pull the letters free. The tawny owl let out a soft hoot and flew off.
"Well..." Leo said, handing Giovanni and Nic their letters.

Giovanni raised an eyebrow, wondering if the owl had possibly dropped a few letters. Still, he opened his own, taking a moment to skim the text. "Leo, would you go give Ricardo his letter?"

"She's okay," Leo said for the sake of Nic, taking note of Tessa's signature at the bottom of the page. Her handwriting was untidy, and difficult to read in places, but he managed to get the gist of what she had written. "The operation went well, but she'll be off for a while. She says she misses you." At Giovanni's request, he nodded, taking the letter and heading across the room to the Gryffindor table.

Ricardo too was busy flipping through an Advanced Potions Textbook to notice anything or anyone, including food. His plate sat untouched, a decent prop for the textbook. He looked exhausted, dark circles under his eyes as they flitted across words.

"Uh..." Leo tapped his shoulder, a little taken aback by just how tired his brother looked. "This came for you by owl. It's from Tessa."

Ricardo turned around, hiding a yawn behind a hand. "Oh. Uh, thanks, Leo." He took the letter, studying it briefly through bleary eyes before opening it.

Leo waited for him to read it, gaze flickering over the book Ricardo was so engrossed in. It suddenly occurred to him that Tessa hadn't written to Bianca, or Jane, or Xander. Maybe the owl dropped some of the letters, he thought with a frown.

"Huh," Ricardo mumbled after a moment. "I'm glad that she's alright. And dad went to deliver the presents! I'll write back after class today. I can't believe it slipped my mind not to write until now."

"You haven't written either?" Leo sounded troubled. "She only sent the letters to us and Giovanni and Nic. I didn't really think about it until now, but that's weird, isn't it? Unless some of the letters got dropped on the way."

He shrugged. "Well. I'll leave you to... Whatever it is you're doing. Bianca should know that Tessa's okay. And I think you should get some sleep."

"Oh. Yeah," he muttered with a shaky laugh. "I guess I must have lost track of time last night. Vincent and I were hanging out at the Quidditch Pitch."
