Tessa stood, legs a little weak, and returned to where the rest of the group stood, staying close to Nic.

"That sounds lovely. I'm sure Leo and Bianca will have no problems catching up while we're over there." Giovanni managed a smile, digging his hand into his pocket and finding the rough paper. Even thinking about it made his stomach plummet in a strange combination of fear, guilt, and frustration.

Tessa beamed at him, the expression coming easily to her. The exhilaration of the ride had pushed most of her negative thoughts away, and for the while she was eager to enjoy herself. It was her party, after all. "Come on, then," she said, tugging at Nic's arm and starting in the direction of the wheel.

Nic stumbled after her, grinning. Giovanni glanced at Ricardo, eyebrows raised. He'd known Tessa and Nicolas were an item for months, but he'd never seen them be very affectionate in public before now.

"We just finished O.W.L.s. They refuse to use any form of Braille around here because it's too 'Muggle,'" Nicolas scoffed. "So I had to have my examination read to me. It was in German and everything, which was nice, but it took an eternity."

"Just a bit of discomfort," she pursed her lips before continuing. "The first few days were the worst. And mum and dad are fine. Still getting over... Well, you know. They put on brave faces for me at least." Tessa knew that she was easily fooled, but her parents were too easy to read. It was obvious to her that it would take more than a few months to even start to recover from the death of their other daughter.

She nodded, turning to hide her face as they reached the wheel. It wasn't necessary to hide from him - he couldn't see her expression, but Nic had always had an uncanny ability to read her. Uneasy, she glanced up at the machine that towered above them. It was moving slowly, the compartments stopping each time at the bottom to allow passengers in. "We're here," she said softly.

"It's just a big wheel that goes round," she told him, guiding him to the platform where they could get on. "There are separate compartments on the edge. It's not very exciting." Truthfully, Tessa had felt the need to escape the rest of the group. The tension between her and Bianca had certainly made things awkward, and she felt the strange urge to be apart from her friends, replacing her former desire to speak to them all again.

She felt uncomfortable. "Things are... It's just awkward with Bianca right now. I don't know what I did wrong, but she didn't write to me at all whilst I was at home. And now she's acting all distant."
