He took a seat next to her, somewhat glad that she was drunk so that perhaps she would fail to notice the blush staining his cheeks. He took a sip of champagne and joined in the countdown.
"Thirteen, twelve, eleven," Tessa continued, casting a small grin at Nicolas despite knowing that he wouldn't be able to see it. It must be strange for him, especially when the fireworks go off.

Vincent glanced at Ricardo while he was counting. Vaguely, he pondered why Ricardo had been so nice to him all evening, or why he'd even invited him in the first place.

Tessa smiled softly, sipping her champagne. She couldn't help but notice that whilst she was away the group had constricted slightly.

He felt the heat rise to his cheeks. "I look like a tomato, don't I?"
Ricardo laughed, kissing Vincent briefly on the forehead ("Tradition," he shrugged, smiling) before going to his other friends.
Giovanni ruffled Tessa's hair. "Happy new year."

"Amazing." Xander surmised in a bland tone, discarding his now empty bottle for a new one. "I haven't even been gone like Bubbles has yet these new relationships are popping out of the ground like... I don't know, like bamboo or something similarly fast growing and I didn't even notice... I'm not that inattentive am I?"
