Cesar smiled back, giving her a shrug. He motioned to a table and waited for Mark to take a seat. Cesar liked him alright so far. He seemed nice. He wondered why Nova was so nervous about meeting him.

Nova took a deep breath as her father sat down at a table and motioned for her to sit next to him. "So, dad... how have you been?" she asked after a moment of silence, her mouth dry.
"Fantastic! Why wouldn't I be? What about you kids? Anything interesting happening in your group?" he replied.

"Graduating? Um, a few years, at least," Nova replied, frowning, but tried to shrug it off. Since when has he been so interested in my life? He never used to care.

Cesar watched tge conversation and couldn't help but notice that Nova seemed uncomfortable. It was odd. It was only her father she was talking to, and he was asking pretty harmless questions. Still, Cesar reached under the table to place his hand over hers.

55"O-okay..." Something about this still made him uneasy, but he wasn't sure what it was that caused the feeling. Carefully, he stood, excusing himself from the table in a mumble, and walking numbly towards the large couch in the living room. Viola grinned as she watched him walk towards the couch. As she put away plates, her gaze didn't leave Moby as he slowly walked towards the living room. Something had happened between the hazy sopor of the food and the sudden numbness of every moment after; the colors of the world seemed to have become harsher, as if put through a particularly eye-watering photo filter. The twisting spirals that spilled through Viola's body suddenly looked a lot more like the twisting tentacles of a nightmare lurking deep below the sea, practically moving on their own as she slowly tilted her head. If one looked close enough, it would occur to them that she was not breathing or blinking. She never had been. |

Vincent smiled. "Thank you. I almost did." He led the way down the halls and towards the main entrance of the castle. Opening one of the big wooden doors, he breathed in the cool morning air and turned to grin at Ricardo. The fog was so thick you could hardly see six feet in front of you. Who knew what it was like down at the lake.

Moby eventually dozed off, his face pressed against a throw pillow. But it wasn't a pleasant nap. After a minute or so, he began tossing and turning as a nightmare invaded his mind. Vividly, a dark figure rose up before him. It appeared to be feminine, but Moby couldn't tell for sure. Its arms were outstretched, reaching for him in the inky blackness of the dream. The fingers turned to claws and the figure grinned, revealing a mouthful of small, pointed teeth, too many for them to belong to a human. Just as it grasped Moby's arms, he jerked awake and sat up quickly, breathing hard. It wasn't so much the dream itself that had scared him, but the fact that the figure had seemed so familiar, like he'd seen it before. Like it could be with him now.
