Ricardo stood so quickly that the table shifted, the clattering silverware briefly filling the strange silence of the hall. Something was making him anxious to leave the Great Hall. Maybe it was the way that their voices echoed around the huge space-- and yet, no matter how loud they spoke, his words still felt small and tinny. Maybe it was the strange feeling that made his stomach churn and the hairs on the back of his neck stand on end. I need to calm down. I'm just going on a nice walk, in nice weather, with my boyfriend, and later a party. Just like every day. Just like every single day before now and every single day after.

Everything just feels off, like it shouldn't be the way it always is. Am I sick...? The uncomfortable churning in the pit of his stomach didn't stop, no matter how many times he looked out the window and reminded himself that he would get to spend some time with Vincent. Even the other Gryffindor's affection felt out of place-- not that he didn't enjoy it. But he shouldn't have been as nervous as he was, not with the amount of time they had been together. |

Vincent climbed the stairs to the dormitory slowly and deliberately. Once at the top, his hand rested on the gold doorknob for a minute or so, debating whether or not to go inside. Eventually, he felt the mechanisms turn inside the door, and next thing he knew, he was stepping inside. "Hey, Ricardo?"

Maybe I helped make the food? That sounds likely enough. It was a good-enough story and he was sticking with it. "I think I might've helped out with the dinner, but, um..."
