She pinched his cheek before walking into the barn, running a hand through her hair.

Moby stared after her confusedly for a moment, rubbing his cheek. He turned and walked to the stream. He washed his clothes first, watching dust and dirt flow downstream. When he himself got in the water, which was shockingly cold, he could almost feel the grime washing away. Moby's skin became at least a half a shade lighter and his hair didn't feel greasy and sandy for once. It was amazing.
His clothes were still wet by the time he was finished washing, so he was forced to put them back on for the walk back to the barn. He was dripping wet, even by the time he reached their makeshift home, and his short hair stuck up in several places. Trying to fix it only made it worse.

Viola stared at him as he arrived. "I had no idea your hair was that color," she marveled. "Or that you liked it in that particular... Style."

"What? No!" Moby protested. "I can't exactly help it. It does this when it gets wet," he sighed, attempting to flatten it for about the fifth time.

"Just leave it alone; you'll mess it up for when it dries." Viola paused at the doorway of the barn. "I'll be in the stream. Have some berries or something."

"Alright..." he grumbled softly, sitting down in the hay. Upon remembering something he'd meant to tell her, he looked up. "Oh, wait! Viola, guess what? I cleaned my glasses too!" He took them off to show her. "I can actually see!"

She turned around, raising her eyebrows. "That's really great, Moby! But they're all scratched up... maybe we can do something about that."

He shrugged. "I doubt it. Just go take your bath. I'll uh...be here." Moby settled back down in the hay with a sigh. It was almost as if Viola was treating him like a child. Pinching his cheek, scolding him about messing with his hair, the way she'd said 'that's really great, Moby!'

Viola walked down to the stream, wondering if Moby was still upset from the incident with the gang. It was probably not going to leave his mind for another few days, but... She wished he'd open up again. At the moment, she had to guess what his feelings were.

Moby fiddled with a piece of straw as he waited. "Just because I'm shorter, doesn't mean I'm younger..." he muttered to himself. Sighing, he laid down on his side. Maybe I am childish. Am I? Moby realized that he was having a harder time controlling his emotions since joining Viola. Maybe that was why... But he'd never had trouble suppressin his emotions before...

Viola submersed herself in the icy water, remembering the ice-cold showers that her mother used to demand that she'd take. "It's better for your skin and you'll look young for longer," she'd always chide, pushing a protesting Viola under the water.

"This hospital seems to have a theme going on," Luc muttered, referring of course to the abnormal recurring napiform motif. He pushed open the doors at the end of the corridor, recoiling ever so slightly as he was met with chaos. The ED was rammed - nurses bustled past at inane speeds, their trolleys clattering over the floor. "Good god, I hate emergency medicine," he grumbled above the clamour. "If I were Clinical Lead, I'd sort this place out." "You can't criticise them too much, I'm almost sure that this is one of the few functioning hospitals in this post-apocalyptic hell hole we call our planet." Yuka reminded, side stepping to avoid a potentially nasty collision and almost colliding into the curving wall. "On second thoughts, yes. Please do sort things out, both the staff and the building." Whilst she thought herself to be a patient person, even she was getting sick and tired of napiform anywhere and everywhere.

Luc grumbled in a wordless agreement, pushing past a crowd of porters to make his way towards the front door, where the ambulance was parking up. The faded green cross on the front looked murky against its grey backdrop, and he reflected that it probably hadn't been painted in a long time. Priorities and all that.
"Right," the paramedic announced as she pushed the trolley through the doors. The man lying on it looked to be in a bad way, his face drained of all colour and leg exposed. A knife was lodged deep into the flesh there. "We have an unidentified male, around twenty. He's been stabbed." Luc snorted. As if it wasn't obvious enough. "GCS is eight, resps are 20, maybe 22. And the knife has just hit the femoral, so we left it in at the scene."

"Yikes," Yuka winced, taking a step back but keeping her eyes glued to the body. "He looks... Really bad." She still hadn't gotten fully used to the hospital environment and who could blame her? A first year medical student was hardly expected to have the experience or knowledge to fully adapt in such a situation, she had only recently started to fully observe the practice too after deciding to stop hiding behind the shield of trauma. "So, O-neg?"

Luc nodded, waving a hand at one of the nurses. "Uh, yes. Six units. Make that seven. And let's get some fluids through him. I'll need FBCs, LFTs, U's and E's, and a twelve lead ECG." He followed the trolley as it was pushed into Resus, tugging on a pair of gloves as he passed the doorway. "Yuka, what are your thoughts?" He paused, leaning over to inspect the leg. The sooner we get some blood in him, the better. This could be messy. He was fairly certain that the knife would need surgical removal, although with the man's current state, it looked like they'd need to operate sooner rather than later.

Yuka furrowed her brow, hesitantly taking a step closer. Ah, too much blood. Too much blood. "It-it's deep. We can't risk removing the knife without a tourniquet or something to stop the bleeding." 7/11, FOFBOC, .b. For goodness sake, Yuka, just stay calm. "We... We'll have to act quickly, the longer we wait, the higher the risk of infection and who knows what sort of trace microbes from that disease are hanging around."

He looked up at her through slightly narrowed eyes, wondering if she was okay to work. Perhaps he ought to send her to cubicles to treat patients there... But all thoughts of that disappeared as the patient let out a rasping cough, blood trickling from his mouth. Luc winced. "Uh, yes, could we get that cleared up? And you're right, we need to clamp the blood flow and get that tear patched up. Yuka, call theatre and see if they have an available slot."

"A-ah, right away!" Yuka spun around almost frantically, attempting to locate the phone in the room. There. Flushing red with her back facing the room's occupants, she dialed the number and waited for them to pick up, fighting to urge to smash her head against the wall. After a rather awkward conversation with the worker on the other end, she breathed a sigh of relief, composing herself. "They have a free slot, Doctor Keogh."

"Okay. Well, he's relatively stable so I don't see why we can't send him up there now. Uh, nurse, get his blood gases sent up with him. Dr Ashford's on call, so god help the poor man." Luc tugged off the plastic gloves, getting a little satisfaction from the slapping noise they made. "Good work, everyone. That was nice and quick, wasn't it?"

"I was honestly expecting worse," Yuka laughed nervously, tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear. "Are all cases relatively simple or are we waiting for all hell to break loose right now? The last thing we need is a strain of something nasty like MRSA floating around."
