Bianca raised her eyebrows. "Tessa, when we were kids Nic always had the biggest crush on you. I'm sure that must carry to now. Look at this! He left out an entire row because of how confused he is about his feelings. I actually think that he has feelings for both of you, and is having trouble figuring out which."

She couldn't help the tingle of apprehension that shot through her, but attempted to repress the sensation nevertheless. "I hardly think he'll spend too long trying to decide; it's obvious Jane is better for him. Imagine Nic and I as a couple - brainless and blind. I bet everyone would find it hilarious." A hint of bitterness crept into her voice and she tried to push it away, aware of the fact that it really wasn't helping her case.

He obviously helped take you out of whatever mental pit you were in because of the tumor, and when he first came out to us as transgender, you were one of the ones who helped him the most to stop hurting himself. She smiled, a blush spreading across her cheeks. Bianca always knows exactly what to say to make me feel better. Unsure of what else to say, she glanced up at her friend, eyes bright. "Is that chocolate still on offer?"

"I started chemo the other week and my hair's already starting to fall out. I was wondering if you'd shave it for me." She felt the words pain her, although it was something she wanted, and there was nobody she'd trust besides Bianca to do it, except maybe Nic, the simple problem being that he was blind.
