Tessa pushed open the door, smiling as she brushed a strand of dark red hair away from her face. It was strange to see the vibrant colour out of the corner of her eyes, so different to the natural dark blonde that she was used to.

Giovanni was still knitting, one sleeve of the purple sweater finished. Nicolas was seated on the floor, muttering in German as he played with Nutmeg, letting the kitten run over his hands.
